loudly proclaim that she is a feminist, not realizing that the movement she thinks she is a part of has been dead for about 30 years. Government has absorbed feminism and used it to its own ends like population control and a stranglehold over academia. This pattern holds true for all social movements, just like how the Roman Empire absorbed Christianity.

You can tell this type of woman is a feminist because she is completely invested in "fighting the patriarchy" and brings up completely debunked statistics like the wage gap MYTH or the rape culture MYTH. Kind of like a vegan who MUST make absolute sure that everyone knows they are a vegan and that they are morally superior while ignoring the fact that sharp teeth and cooking meat are a major part of human evolution.

A feminist is much more likely than an average person to claim that "everything is just a social construct" and ignore the effects of biology by using an extremist nurture over nature blank slate bullshit ideology.

I am going to you assume that you meant what defines a feminist woman, not what causes a woman to choose feminism.

What defines a feminist is fighting against men. Any feminist cause you can think of, I pretty much guarantee that somewhere in there is a fight against men or a marginalization of men.

Nowadays, with women gaining so much in the last 50 years, it's hard to take someone who considers them a new wave feminist seriously. What I like is that my friends who don't know about any of the pills have told me they would never date a feminist. Maybe they will not breed and die out.

Subscribes to mainstream feminist theory regarding patriarchy and power differentials between white cis males and women or non white cis males i.e. white/male privilege; oppression, discrimination, sexism/racism/able-ism, objectification, hegemonic masculinities, abolition of the gender binary, support for LGBT rights, rape culture. Opposed to most of these things as examples of oppression and privilege, including abuse. Seeks for gender equality of opportunity (although in practice becomes equality of outcome).

That she chooses to call herself one. The current "wave" holds that women should be empowered to experience life however they like and her choices should be respected. So, in theory, a feminist can be anyone regardless of what they do. But there's a vocal segment that shouts down any woman who expresses that she doesn't identify as feminist or holds opinions contrary to what they think she should. They marginalize women with differing opinions by claiming the only reason they have these opinions is because they've "internalized misogyny". And they generally just use the word misogyny way too often.

I'm not a RPer...but it really depends what your definition of feminism is.

I consider myself a first-wave feminist; ie. women should have equal rights (or more accurately people should have equal rights), women should be able to go into any field that they want and be judged by their talent not their gender, women should have self-determinism not be confined to the home (although this has not necessarily worked out well for women, but tough shit because it's too late to change it now), to some extent I agree with sexual liberation although it's generally been a total disaster and today has led to an extremely unhealthy situation.

Second-wave feminism begins to veer into territory that is sophistry, and has no relation to what happens in reality. Third-wave feminism is generally nonsense and bad for both men and women.

So it really depends on your perspective, but a feminist is anyone who subscribes to any aspect of feminism, which is a broad range of theories and perspectives that date back at least 100 years.

Blatantly and onesidedly playing for Team Woman and either being in denial about that when called out on it, or persisting that it's just, right and necessary.

I am not sure if "calling yourself a feminist" qualifies since you may call yourself a feminist according to some outdated definition but "merely" hold opinions that aren't even controversial among people who have a beef with feminism (yeah, I'm looking at you CHS). On the other hand you also have people who shamelessly pander to feminist sentiments and victim complexes and generally behave for all intents and purposes like some run-off-the-mill feminist but refuse to accept the label.

A feminist is someone who believes that there is a utopia called "equality" that can exist between men and women. While what is meant by "equality" varies from person to person, the underlying premise is that it is a state that we are not currently in, but we can achieve this state by just working harder or changing our attitudes.

To be a feminist, specifically, you must believe that one of the reasons that equality doesn't exist is because women don't have some of the rights or social freedoms that men enjoy.

The difference in feminist waves is just what equality means, and how to get there.

What makes a woman modern feminist is if she constantly demonises men for everything they can while always claiming women are victims of some sort.

The infantisation of women and saying men are genetically/socially evil... the idea of this being sexist escapes them.

Don't forget they have a list of reasons for views that disagree with them i.e. what sort of antifeminist you are. Or they just shame the person they disagree with via yellow journalism.

RPers don't have a problem with feminists. They have a problem with joke feminism i.e. modern feminism.
