While reforming the educational system (e.g. getting rid of women-only scholarships) and changing the divorce laws would be helpful, I think it overlooks a basic biological reality:

As long as women wait around till their 30's to get married, a lot of them are going to have trouble.

Men want young, fertile women. A 34-year-old woman who's slept around, is starting to wrinkle and sag in all the wrong places, and whose last remaining eggs are dwindling away, is not really a tantalizing option for many men. Unless he's maybe 50 years old and doesn't want kids.

You can change the laws, but you can't change biology.

We'd have to tell them the truth instead of spreading the bullshit about men liking educated, career-oriented women.

Also, decrease incentives for women to go to college. No more affirmative action or scholarships for women. Women aren't a minority and shouldn't have minority benefits. If you're qualified you're qualified. If you're not, oh well.

EDIT: Also, fix divorce laws so that men don't get completely fucked. Put a time limit on alimony and child support (technically there is one, which I can deal with) as well as a cap on the amount. More men would be willing to marry that way.

A more honest social dialogue about the consequences. An honest and open dialogue that discusses that while you can go ahead and have sex as much and as freely as you like, you are not exempt from the consequences.

Go ahead and have your casual hookups while you pursue your education and career; go ahead and reject less-than-ideal guys along the way; go ahead and neglect your health; go ahead and reject the social norms of feminine beauty; go ahead and neglect the skills and habits which are traditionally expected of a wife and mother ... then go ahead and deal with the consequences when you're 35, single, and wonder why the guys you are attracted to won't commit to you, or are simply too few and far between.

An open dialogue about the SMP. That the beta-provider types among us who get little to no play in their teens and 20s actually do end up feeling jilted, and somewhat bitter and vindictive when we hit our 30s and the tables begin to turn.

I am somewhat a traditionalist but I do recognize that we will always need things like female doctors, midwives, gynecologists, nurses and support workers and carers for the disabled. Women seem to fill a really important role in some careers, just as much as they do within the home and family and society would struggle without some of these women. I think it's beneficial to society that at least some women have careers. I personally usually choose to see a female doctor. However, the rubbish about getting more women in STEM fields and such is pointless. It wouldn't benefit society if more women were encouraged to enter STEM or male dominated careers. Women should have the option, but there should be no affirmative action in these fields based on gender.

I think we as a society should be more friendly towards traditional gender roles, but also make it clear that women do have the choice to pursue something else if they would please. I think then everything would fall into place.

How most problems like this are solved, increase the incentives or decrease the risk. Your second suggestion (reforming divorce laws) decreases risk, and may be the most simple solution.

You could do that, but the men who aren't going to college are unlikely to be in the "high achieving" category anyway, so the problem persists. There's nothing wrong with the supply of high achieving men, it's just those men are not that interested in them. These high achieving women should be dedicated to reproduction and raising the next generation of achievers, but that would require a cultural shift, a recognition that work life is really not what life is about.

i don't really see why we should concern ourselves with what women want. I am college educated and I'm back in college for another degree. I have no intention of ever getting married or living with a woman, and the fact that one more woman ends up single is of no concern to me.

Women aren't owed husbands and women aren't owed relationships. If they open their legs they can hang around and that's it.

"Divorce rape" seems to be a huge problem for TRPers because they have unhealthy relationships that are destined to fail.

They also don't view women as equals so they feel like they are entitled to more than their wife.

I agree that the legal system is more biased towards women, and that needs to change. But the problem is grossly exaggerated by trpers.

Marriage is a concept of "what's mine is yours and yours is mine". If you don't like that, don't get married.

Women aren't entitled to alimony if they cheated first.
I saw this somewhere on lookism or sluthate, but remove makeup. Some people would be stunned at the effect makeup has on a woman's appearance. She can catapult herself from a 4 to a 7 easily. This takes no effort, no dedication. Some of the women that are hailed for their beauty are hideous 2/10 monsters without the magic paint. I seriously doubt Chads would even bother with most of the women he sleeps with if it wasn't for makeup. Basically when Chads start to have standards, hypergamy stops.
