Sounds like you were concern trolling bud. Are you surprised that you got banned? That's strictly against the sub's rules.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (30 children) | Copy Link

If concern trolling means dismantling and tearing down the curtain to prevent toxic and old world concepts of "manliness", then call me a troll. I see so many posters there who are probably from TBP spouting off ridiculous misogynistic rancor and are welcome with open arms and up voted.

I'm censored for exposing the truth on this game, and exposing TRPers to the fact that the environment there harbors misguided, mentally ill men like Elliott Rodger, Dylan Roof, etc.. under the excuse of "It's just the anger phase". These men stay in the anger phase because TRP is constantly flooded with stories of women doing shitty things. It is regularly promoted there that women are dumb, selfish, entitled, and on the maturity level of a teenager.

Of course I was censored and banned. The mods do not want to leave their thrones or alter their policies. I wonder what would've happened if we were all in Jonestown…

[–]CyraleaRedPill Vanguard19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

"I know there was a no-trespassing sign guys, but telling people where to go is toxic and outdated. I'm a trailblazing pioneer that's being oppressed for going where I want"

Sure thing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Well you can say "Hey don't trespass on my property again" or (depending on what state you live) pull out the shotgun, aim, and fire.

I'm not trying to promote myself as a "trail blazing pioneer" I'm just saying that TRP may be dangerous for some impressionable minds because it has a cult-like or gang mentality influence.

Look what's happening in this thread alone, I'm being down voted soley because I have an opinion that does not agree with everyone else's in TRP. I'm only being down voted because I'm challenging the perceived notions of it.

[–]CyraleaRedPill Vanguard14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Or we can have you persecuted for trespassing on the first attempt. You're not a special snowflake. You don't get preferential treatment.

I'm being down voted soley because I have an opinion that does not agree with everyone else's in TRP

You're being downvoted for being delusional and acting like a victim at the same time.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or we can have you persecuted for trespassing on the first attempt. You're not a special snowflake. You don't get preferential treatment.

I think that a large portion of the world would simply just let a person trespass through their property without notifying authorities given there weren't bad past experiences of vandalism to your property, theft, or some other crime.

I'm not being delusional for stating that TRP has the ability to harbor hatred and a negative perspective. I'm not being delusional for saying that these young men might isolate themselves over this or do something destructive. I'm not delusional for realizing that this environment can be what triggers a mentally ill young man who's at risk and his behavior written off as "anger stage" when there's more positive and effective solutions to solve that problem.

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're being downvoted for being delusional and acting like a victim at the same time.

ha, you condoning not following the rules while criticizing someone for not following the rules? how does that make sense in your head?

[–]CyraleaRedPill Vanguard4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not sure what rule you think I'm breaking. Pretty sure "making /u/taiboworks confused" isn't on there.

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism-2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

downvoting is against ppd rules... but i guess you were not condoning it, just positing an explanation for the downvoting.

[–]teeeloRed Pill3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm being down voted soley because I have an opinion that does not agree with everyone else's in TRP.

If you honestly think TRP is unique in this regard you are definitely choking on the red pill.

R/thebluepill R/niceguys R/trollxchromosomes R/twoxchromosomes R/feminism

Just a few examples where the hive mind will happily mold you into their own 'Franken-Rogers' and claim it was TRP.

[–]autoNFAPurple Pill9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Don't be ridiculous. What you did with the equivalent of showing up to /r/Christianity and saying "this whole Resurrection thing is bullshit, guys!".

[–]hippydipster0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, it does need to be done.

[–]autoNFAPurple Pill4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not on /r/Christianity it doesn't. I believe the Resurrection is bullshit, but I don't show up to Bible study groups and argue that their religion is transparently false.

[–]hippydipster2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It sounds reasonable, but what ends up happening is everyone surrounds themselves with people and "spaces" where they hardly ever hear opposing views. The mentally ill person who hears the voices that tell him to kill doesn't need his own sub where people who tell him to stop listening to the voices get banned.

Christians, climate deniers, red pillers, feminists, women, men, basicincome supporters, etc don't need places where dissenting voices are banned. We are only getting a hardening of subjective opinions this way, as the resonance in the echo chambers reaches fever pitch. No one values free speech as a cultural ideal anymore, instead saying it's only relevant if the government is doing the censoring, otherwise, ban and delete what you don't like!

[–]tallwheelManosphere Unificationist0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, I would like to believe that TRP is a little less ideological and resistant to dissenting opinions than religion is, though.

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

so red pill is like a religious sub?

[–]autoNFAPurple Pill0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

The analogy applies for all types of subs. It's also like going into a gaming sub and telling everyone that video games are a complete waste of time.

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

the basis of red pill is that there is this truth most people don't see, buy into, agree with. comparing it to religious subs is fair because they operate the same. you have to agree with red pill truths (or at least not question them) or you will get banned, same as many religious subs.

[–]autoNFAPurple Pill1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Again, that's true of all sorts of subs, not just religious ones. It's obnoxious to invade a sub, badmouth it, and then act like you're being oppressed when you're shown the door.

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

wasn't he a former red piller that had a change of mind/heart? not saying he should be able to say whatever on red pill, just arguing why he can't... that it's an ideological sub and if you don't support or stop supporting the ideology/tenets you will likely get banned. that does make it cult like. not that all cults are bad necessarily.

[–]autoNFAPurple Pill0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

So if a movie sub banned someone for lecturing everyone that movies are a worthless waste of time, despite the words "this is not a sub set up to debate whether watching movies at all is a good use of time" being right in the sidebar, would it be cultlike?

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

movie subs don't have ideologies, which is why they can't be cults, red pill does have an ideology. you can debate on a movie sub what movie is best. or say certain movies suck or are great. you can't diss red pill ideology on red pill (in group), but you can diss non red pill ideologies (out group).

if there was a sub devoted to Tarantino films and they banned someone for saying his films sucked, that would be a cult like sub, or at least cult like behavior.

[–][deleted] 1 points1 points1 points 10 years ago | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]taiboworksrational idealism > toxic egoism-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

but don't red pillers think those subs are basically group think cults? or at least group think zones?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I originally posted in TRP hoping that some folks might see what I had to say and wake up to the BS.

If concern trolling means dismantling and tearing down the curtain to prevent toxic and old world concepts

Crimson-hound! Could it be?!!

Could it be that you are the one the ancient prophecies speak about?

THE CHOSEN ONE!!!

I'm censored for exposing the truth on this game

No, you were censored because you didn't add anything of value.

[–]Red_Placebo-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm with you, man, but its a losing battle. The only way these types of subs stay the twisted little ouroboroses that they are is if they stifle anyone who tries to get anyone to think. Nevermind 'dismantling', you'll usually get banned for asking questions too intelligently. Otherwise most of the insecure people looking for answers who stumble their way might see other points of view, and then maybe not stick around to reaffirm their silly notions of checklist masculinity.

[–]raouldukeesq0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The subs rules are set out so that the Mods can control every aspect of the content of the sub and squash any and all dissent. The Sub's rules themselves are evidence of the sub being like a cult.

[–]CyraleaRedPill Vanguard2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Would you say that /r/food is a cult if they demand that only pictures and stories of food? Is /r/knitting a cult if they won't allow people to include anything other than knitting?

That's a pretty contrived definition of cult.

[–]exit_sandmanstill not the MGTOW sandman FFS14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

TRP as well as other dark areas of the manosphere are not interested in seeing you succeed in life and succeed with women; they’re interested in selling you products,

Dammit, I could have kept those 0€ I spent on TRP!

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You might not have spent anything, and neither have I but the manosphere has created a market for PUA workshops, and dating advice books, never mind selling information obtained and quantified by posters using algorithms like word clouds and selling that information to marketing teams, selling ad space on a high-hit youtube channel etc..

[–]exit_sandmanstill not the MGTOW sandman FFS5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You might not have spent anything

Now that I think of it... standing corrected, I bought Rollo's book. Okay, I am at 8$, but that hardly counts since I could have found everything in it on his blog. So not exactly extortion either.

the manosphere has created a market for PUA workshops, and dating advice books

Which belongs more to the PUA-segment of the manosphere.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Okay, multiply that $8 by 13,000 youtube subscriptions; x amount of posters on your forums, x amount of posters on TRP who are more likely to be into concepts like MRA, MGTOW than the average guy who doesn't even know this shit exists..

There you have it, earning money off a seed of insecurity planted in a male's mind through concepts like "AWALT", "alpha vs beta" and lack of a strong male role model in a young man's life which this toxic masculinity of using money to have power over decision making and "dread game" will promote for future generations. Now the seed's planted, and the sales will come.. Just like a farmer working the fields through the seasons. The harvest recycling itself year after year.

[–]thereddespair2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

in that technical sense, yes i can agree there is money involved in this.

one line i remember from my past. just follow the money, theres always money involved

[–]exit_sandmanstill not the MGTOW sandman FFS4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, but without reading the entirety of your opening post: no wonder you got banned.

[–]speed3_freakOld School Red0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure people make a buttload of money off of feminism stuff. Does that make feminism a cult that was created to sell people stuff?

I don't agree with a lot of the stuff that TRP says, and I honestly think a bunch of the folks who post there don't really understand what the material should be used for, but lots of the philosophies really do work in the real world, and do make it easier to understand and interact with women on a daily basis. It's not a cult. I've never one time been asked to purchase anything. I have spent quite a bit of money because of TRP, but it was money spent on going out and having fun with women. Does that count?

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

I really don't understand you people that go to TRP and say shit like this and are confused when you get banned. TRP isn't a debate dub, I don't know how y'all came under the impression that it was.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

I'm not really surprised or confused on the fact that I was banned at all. I'm surprised that people aren't waking up to the fact that TRP is a place that promotes and allows hatred to flourish. So many people hold it dear to them because it has helped build them as a man that they refuse to accept the reality of circumstances- which is exactly what happens with cults, fascist groups, and military extremists.

I'm not really surprised or confused on the fact that I was banned at all. I'm surprised that people aren't waking up to the fact that TRP is a place that promotes and allows hatred to flourish

Thats just like...your opinion man.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

It's not my opinion, it's fact. I will admit to the fact that endorsed contributors (other than gaylubeoil) usually have some really thought provoking inciteful material to offer, but outside of that; I see a lot of hate. It's not my opinion, it's fact.

[–]SteelChickenPragmatic Pill5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

You confuse anger with hate, and you are highly deluded if you think TRP is the sole bastion of anger. Feminists are capable of at least as much anger as TRP.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Feminists are capable of at least as much anger as TRP.

Lol! Feminists can get angry, the difference is we get angry about our planned parenthoods getting defunded, and about mandatory vaginal probes if we want an abortion. RP is just steaming over the sex other people are having and why can't they get more. Not really comparable.

[–]SteelChickenPragmatic Pill3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

LOL!

we get angry about our planned parenthoods getting defunded

OTHER PEOPLE WONT PAY FOR MAI CONDOMS AND ABORTIONS

and about mandatory vaginal probes if we want an abortion.

This is how babby is removed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're not very smart, are you?

Women are on the hook to pay for men's Viagra. Vaginal probes are completely unnecessary. Kind of like you on this planet.

[–]SteelChickenPragmatic Pill2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I rest my case.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That you're like a newborn babe, with no knowledge of the real world? Yeah, that was pretty obvious muchacho.

[–]Xemnas812 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This isn't quite true, RP covers issues such as divorce 'rape' with child support and alimony, misandrist discrimination of men in the workplace etc. You confuse redpill as a movement with r/TRP the PUA.hub.

Moreover society does actually demonise male sexuality when it either does not benefit them in getting to access the top 20% of the patriarchy, or give feminism the final say (which isnkf course, fenale-centric)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

divorce 'rape'

Yeah, their whole shtick on divorce "rape" is total BS. Judges decide if alimony is necessary (in most cases it isn't) and then if alimony is awarded its on a gender neutral basis and is not to exceed what a person can reasonably pay. If you lose your job you can petition for lower payments. And alimony is going the way of the dinosaur anyway.

Child support is for the child, yes you're responsible for your own damn child, how is that even an issue?

misandrist discrimination of men in the workplace

Like what?

or give feminism the final say

You mean...consent?

[–]MagicGainbowKeepin' it real, havin' a feel0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Then explain all the feminists getting angry over mansplaining or that mras exist.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

If you think that mansplaining is not an issue already, I don't see how I could.

[–]MagicGainbowKeepin' it real, havin' a feel0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Typo there was supposed to say manspreading, still you didn't touch the other point about how unreasonably angry/offended feminists are by the mere existence of mra's.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Because MRAs say all the issues feminists bring up are lies or delusions by people who want to "play the victim" (a post just popped up about this on the front page).

Man spreading is annoying as fuck, it's inconsiderate like plopping your shopping into an empty seat when other people want to sit. It's not like it's feminism issue #1, men just need to be aware of how much space they take up and if they're inconveniencing someone else. FYI it's super comfortable for me as a chick to sit with my legs spread out too, but I don't because it's inconsiderate to my fellow passengers.

Comparable things to man spreading: putting your shopping or bag in an empty seat, listening to your music on full blast, talking super loud on your phone, etc. all of these are entitled behaviors, but feminists latch onto man spreading because it's something you only see men doing typically, and not either sex like giving your bag it's own seat.

[–]teeeloRed Pill3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

that they refuse to accept the reality of circumstances-

Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead and say the obvious here- TRP is all about brining the truth to the surface. It's not pretty and people don't like it.

I relate trp's effect on the populace as telling a child that Santa Claus doesn't exist. It turns out being good has nothing to do with what you get for Christmas. Turns out, you lived your whole life on a lie that was just to keep you in line. Turns out that your Christmas Day bonanza is only dependent on how rich your parents are, and they probably did some pretty questionable shit in order to spoil you. The reality is harsh.

Now imagine how a child would react to that information before they were ready?

Hint: Pretty childishly.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

TRP is empirical!

TRP isn't up for debate

1.First i can't imagine why you got banned. /s

second pual elam and /u/girlwriteswhat are mras, pual elam is not RP, and GWW may have some RP leanings but she could speak to that better than i could. also pual elam youtube channel has like 13000 subs, that not ecactly the lime light.

But you point is correct, roosh, rollo, GLO, et al all want to sell you shit. you your wrong on the specific but right on the core premises

2 you can't make the claim with doing a longitudinal study of pre and post RP people and and controls, and even then it would be VERY SHAKEY.

3 nothing about that is RP.

Also i dont think RP ever claimed to be a free speech zone.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

GWW may have some RP leanings but she could speak to that better than i could.

Her dismantling feminism playlist is literally just red pill theory. It's red pill to a T. There's just no other way to swing it. She's straight forwardly a red piller. MRAs only like the theory better when she says it because they're misandrists and she's a woman.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

MRAs

misandrists

lol? Damn those misandrists that care about men's rights.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Fine misandrist is probably the wrong word but they're not nearly as male positive as advertised to be.

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

because we like reality and dont think every thing a male has done is gold.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

So explain why RP theory is kosher when Karen Straughan says it but not when TRP says it. If not sexisn then why?

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

We like karren because she tells guys no your not insane or whining their are problems and no its not fair. Yes women pull bullshit and yes the feminist are covering it up. most of us think she goes into the weeds with here evo psyche stuff.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't answer my question. We say exactly the same thing. Why, if not sexism, do you guys laud it when she does it? Food for thought, she's commented many times on that there are shit loads of guys doing exactly the same thing but they have only a fraction of her subscribers.

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Right and i am saying half her message is on point with the mrm and half isn't. Her saying society has an anti male bias, and there is fucked up shit that society does to men =/= her going off into the weeds with evo psyche.

[–]girlwriteswhat4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You do realize that my thesis is that the anti-male bias exists because of evo-psych, right?

Do you have an alternate explanation as to why there can exist, at the same time, a massive anti-male/pro-female bias in society, and a pervasive perception that society privileges men and oppresses women?

If this vulnerability to favoring women while believing we're oppressing them, while shitting on men and believing we're privileging them is not rooted in an evolved human nature, where does it come from?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

According to you, but most MRAs just love her. She's incredibly popular on there and virtually everything she says is incredibly popular.

3 nothing about that is RP. Also i dont think RP ever claimed to be a free speech zone.

Doesn't the fact that TRP negates a core premise of democracy and freedom associated with the western world and paved the way to even have ability to argue about this arbitrary bullshit over the internet not raise a red flag?

[–]TheGreasyPoleObjectively Pro-moderate filth4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How does TRP violate free speech ?

You're still allowed to speak freely.

Free speech doesn't mean anyone is legally required to print what you say. Only that you can say it.

Does the fact that when you write to the TV station they didn't put your letter on air violate your free speech too ? Jesus.

Just for information purposes... I don't want to get too harsh on you uneccessarily... How old are you ?

Actually the outside world.censors freedom of speech when it doesn't suit the cultural narrative tje powers that be like. At present it's the 3rd wave Feminine Imperative and SJW political correctness culture.

TRP is fairly far Right ngl, and there are obvious reasons the current Centre Left establishment woul censor that.

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

red pill is a segment of reddit and blogpsphere., techinically RP is akin to private property with the mods being the owner that censor what they like for what ever reason. they aren't the government. Also from their mods perspective they are probably like this is a topic for this sub, not RP but you could ask the mods

[–]grendalorRed Rain0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not in the least, because there is no free speech on individual blogs and subreddits. Try posting any RP stuff on any number of subs and see how quickly it will be deleted and you will be banned. There isn't free speech here, generally -- it's regulated by the moderators of the sub. That's the case for all subs, not just TRP, so it's really hard to understand what your beef is.

[–]mrcs84usnFatty Fat Neck Beard0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The beef is that HIS stuff got deleted, as opposed to someone else. How can he ram his unwanted opinion down people's throats if he doesn't have an audience?

[–]grendalorRed Rain0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep -- seems that way.

[–]Purpuru5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

(so much for TRP being a calling grounds of "free speech")

Have they ever claimed this? A virtual "locker room" is not the same as calling for free speech.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How come I see so much promotion of free speech on TRP every time people get concerned about having the sub shut down as a "hate group" as reddit plans to increase its governing measures?

[–]Purpuru7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's because they're referring to Reddit as a whole, not individual subs. If "free speech" was enforced at the sub level, the subs themselves would become meaningless.

[–]grendalorRed Rain1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reddit could also decide to do that if it wanted to, and it would not violate "free speech". You have no free speech rights in non-public spaces, and reddit is not a public space, it's a private space owned by reddit.

Now, people can say that if reddit did that it would go against the whole idea of reddit, but that's a different argument than saying it would violate the right to free speech, because no such right exists in a private place like reddit.

I know one data point does not counter (completely) your argument, but here is my data for your five points:

  1. I had an absolutely fantastic relationship with my mother. I was her favorite child (of 4), having such a strong mother - she went back to school after the kids were in grade school and got a second degree in computer science, working in the industry when it was 90% male.

  2. My Dad was a (mostly) positive male role model. He made boat-loads of money, probably over $3 million by the time he was 50. His only problem: he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. Which I found particularly funny, because he claimed to be a very devout religious man. He was a fantastic provider. If anything, I'd call him an AB - Alpha Bucks.

  3. Mentally unbalanced? I'm a senior manager at work, I make big money in a metropolitan city. I have a healthy LTR. One thing I will concede - exercising is very helpful, maybe even critical for good mental health.

  4. Lack of dating life? What? I went on my first date in fifth grade - when I was eleven. By the time I was 15 I was dating seniors - even cheerleaders. At college I played a Division 1 sport, it gave me immediate pre-selection from women, they saw me as "manly". If anything when dating, I have a touch of oneitis because I like LTR's because they are safer disease-wise.

  5. Insecurity issues - nope, I have IDGAF attitude. Once, in my 20's I told a girl that I had a bad crush on, that "I'd do anything for you". Her pussy dried up so fast it made my head spin. She'd continue to come over to my house to have sex with me, because "she couldn't help herself, your body is too good", - but she never saw me as relationship material after me gushing all over her. I learned the hard way.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Wall of text that I don't have time to wade through, but I do agree with this part:

Lack of positive masculine identity.

I had fairly radfem girlfriend point this out to me in the early 90s. Back then a book called Iron John came out which many credit with starting the "men's movement." It was widely mocked, but she did agree that men need something to stand for that is uniquely masculine.

I feel the same way, but I think David Deida is a better spokesman than TRP.

[–]Xemnas811 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Deida is proto Redpill though. Way of the Superior Man is a sidebar text.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm at work and don't have time to list them all, but a few that come to mind: he thinks more in terms of masculine and feminine rather than men and women. He never showed any interest in things like partner count or other markers of "sluttiness." He would never call women teenagers. In fact, one of the workshop leaders was a woman and he clearly had great trust in her.

[–]mr_one_linerOld School1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Several points to address:

  • Some of us have become increasingly isolated from our friends and family.

Much like how fitness noobs try to break away from an enabling family, or like coming out of the closet as gay. "I came not to bring peace, but a sword." -Matthew 10:24. Even becoming a Christian in a family of something else is fraught with the people you once new, and how they will try to revert you.

So what's the difference between the righteous will of a man set free, and the freedom of an unfettered man out to hurt himself and others? Mental illness. No, TRP does not cause mental illness, but both TRP and TBP contains people who are ill. It's one of the main problems of our time: an ill person with agency (being rich, TRP, gun ownership, all examples of agency-giving situations) causes problems. How to solve this? Certainly not making people poor. Certainly not banning guns (debatable). Certainly not banning thought.

It seems to me that the red pill's cult influence stems from the following

1 & 2 can be true (it is for me) without denying TRP: it is part of what is wrong with life as a male in the western world. It does not mean that TRP is wrong, indeed, an explanation of what is ticking some men off so much would help to explain it, and why it is necessary.

This means that you simply understand their nature and why they are the way they are-accept it.

This is exactly what TRP says. Women (and men) are a certain way.

I strongly suggest that all red pillers who feel a deep seated resentment toward the female sex to seek out therapy.

Except that therapists are very much in the feminist sphere. Unless you get a TRP shrink, it won't solve your problem. There's almost nowhere to go for a TRP man to work this out except with other TRP friends, and since they aren't in a professional environment, it's like having a back-alley abortion - dangerous until they make it legal. (Or in TRP's case, "socially legal")

The red pill is a cult that is held together by the 5 possible points of issue

Re:cult... So there's a group that bands together due to some shared affliction. In that group, there are some who try to make money off of it. If you disagree with the group, they kick you out in order to affirm to those who are still aggrieved that their grievance has merit. This could be ANY group of sufficient aggrievance gathered in a place: TRP, feminism, rape survivors, PC Master Race, Occupy, Arab Spring, the Tea Party. Subreddits, forums, meetups, clubs, conventions. None are called "cults" until the subject matter is one that the observer thinks is toxic.

not interested in seeing you succeed in life interested in selling you products

Of course someone is trying to make money off of the movement. People were trying to sell 9/11 memorial t-shirts in Manhattan the day after. But the presence of those types of people does not point to them controlling the movement. Is body shaming controlled by the diet industry?

The red pill is generally harmful to your overall happiness.

Me not understanding women and being lonely was a sad thing. Me being happily married to my first mate is not. There is a point in TRP to be made for "the world sucks, so get used to it". This is generally said to eliminate the sense of entitlement all the new people still have. It's taking these people who are dependent on happiness from others, and making them into people who get their joy from inside. It's the exact same thing as a motivational poster, except the lesson is much better retained cause the new guy earned it. So just because these truths are hard to swallow, and people are generally mad or sad to see their worldview collapse, does not mean TRP makes you less happy.

These are not red pill beliefs at their core

Many views encourage self-improvement. That they share them with other views does not mean you can extricate them from the TRP view, especially when much of TRP's influence is spent drilling into men's head that you almost HAVE to self-improve. Indeed, some of these maxims are not shared by others at all; consider improving yourself vs acceptance, a man taking the initiative vs "if you love someone, set them free", and "walking away" vs "beta orbiter".

Good points raised and sincerely sorry to hear of your struggle. However, I do think there is a pattern in terms of what the red pill can teach us re: intergender dynamics and sexual indeed ROMANTIC strategy in a postmodern post-feminist West.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I do also believe that TRP teaches men a lot of positive traits to align themselves with; but I see a lot of troubled posters there, and their troubling statements are very quick to get written off as "anger phase". Sometimes I think "did I just read a post from the next Elliott Rodger/Dylann Roof?" It's bad.

Some posters are now saying that TRP has nothing to do with relationships or women. That same poster is saying "fuck women, stop being a little bitch orbiter". Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with maintaining platonic friendships with women.

The mods refuse to censor that nonsense, but have no problem censoring and banning me for speaking out about this. It's starting to remind me of project mayhem in fight club or something.

No, wait. I haven't because I'm the happiest I've ever been. As are my wife and daughter.

I owe it all to hating women and changing to become a more traditional, "toxic" masculine figure.

[–]hippydipster1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The essence of your argument is ad hominem, from your 5 things RP "stems from". By this reasoning I could just assign you to the "broken" category due to your own history, and then discount everything you say.

Now, that doesn't mean you're incorrect, but it does mean if you are correct, it's not for the right reasons.

Also, your definition of a cult needs work. By your definition, there are A LOT of cults here on reddit. Overblown vocabulary, like using the terms "toxic masculinity" and "misogyny". These have become meaningless terms.

So, probably they banned you because you're not providing an argument based on reason, facts, or evidence about their beliefs about women. Personally, I think banning and deleting is just incredibly childish. I've been banned from several subs for much less than what you've done here. I think it's a pretty destructive fad that has infected reddit in the last couple years. People are social justice warring in their own domains. Mostly simply because they can. You wrote nothing other than what you honestly think, and you should be commended for that, not banned. Course, doesn't make it a good argument, as I've pointed out, but still, it's infinitely better than so many who are just there to be yes men and provide echos.

I like your use of the word Toxic Masculinity, that's the phrase I've been looking for I think.

It is toxic, this self indulgent version of masculinity, this false competitiveness and unnecessary assholery in our lovely protected world. So much of it relies on what you point out here, and the need to protect their mirage from anyone who might swish their hand through it and destroy the illusion. Turning masculinity into a checklist of endeavors to optimize the mating scores, to find or craft a docile and unchallenging partner. Claiming all the while to see the natural state they have created another modern twisting of the human condition.

But it's one that has success and teaches men to maneuvre through life in such a way as to get what they want.

If you have an alternative way that men might follow and reach their goals then feel free to write about it.

[–]Red_Placebo2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The world is a strange place, and I wouldn't suggest I have a plan that will work for everyone, which is part of my point I suppose.

But it's one that has success and teaches men to maneuvre through life in such a way as to get what they want.

My objection is more that it teaches these 'men' (if you insist, I think that word is too widely disbursed around here) what they're supposed to want in order to supplement whatever loss or insecurity brought them to the table, and thereby achieve that manliness. They can want whatever they want, making those decisions for oneself is one of the defining characteristics of classical virtue.

"Lifting!" for instance, is often the first response to any post about "gf left, what do I do?". I think this is indicative of the whole philosophy. Lifting is the banal alternative to activity, the cliff notes of fitness. Advice on being a better man would be "learn a martial art", or "take up blacksmithing", or "try yoga" (an amazing way to meet women, btw, and one of the best fuck-training activities there is) as in: Do an activity that makes you move your body to improve fitness and makes you a better and more disciplined man (who then women will want to talk to, being the subtext). Instead, they are told to Lift in order to intimidate 'betas'. Its form without substance, make yourself look like a badass without learning to throw a punch or acquiring the confidence that comes with a knowledge of self defense. Its a product of the perpetual safety that most men in America have access to, and its for show. Look better, act better, then women will see you as better and you'll triple your hitpoints or whatever.

And behind that lies the whole Red Pill point of view, that we're all basically playing a game of sexual cards and trying to optimize our...something...and its really bizarre to me. I think it will breed poor copies of men, rather than actual adult male humans well adjusted to modern society. Which is, of course, where all the racism and other right wing nonsense you see in the extended 'manosphere' comes from. An inherent insecurity which must be ostentatiously covered by loudly declaring 'our' superiority. Its closer in behavior to a peacock than a leopard.

Turning masculinity into a checklist of endeavors to optimize the mating scores, to find or craft a docile and unchallenging partner.

This is basically what feminism does as well. It encourages women to be independent, to have sex however they want, and to find a husband who won't challenge her authority or independence.

What's your point about this?

[–]Red_Placebo1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

and to find a husband who won't challenge her authority or independence.

That's where you lose me.

I'm a man, and a feminist, it just means equality of the sexes. It means that marriage is a partnership in which one partner does not get automatic veto power over the other. Clearly that hasn't been the experience of a lot of the men in TRP, however, don't change the subject.

I was talking about masculinity, what it means to be a man, and I object to their checklist version. The Red Pill philosophy seems to me to rely on substituting a simulation of masculinity, to teach the men here how to conform to this set of expectations rather than that (largely imaginary) set of expectations, and then claim that their version is the ultimate, the objective reality, rather than the elaborate fantasy they've concocted to peacock their way through what I think we can all agree is a pretty strange and modern world. How to give the impression you're a good catch, rather than developing oneself to actually be a superior man.

Define a superior man then.

Impossible, subjective, fluid, or anyway too difficult for me.

Here's what I will say though, a man can get a six pack by doing crunches all day or by learning kung fu, or climbing, or salsa dancing, or welding. Six packs from crunches and milkshakes are a simulation of masculinity, form without substance.

Ah, but you see here is where I think feminists don't understand how TRP forms in the first place.

Your right that TRP is a form of a cult, it has anger, it has hate, and many parts of it aren't the most helpful. BUT, it exists for a reason, and ill explain.

As a feminist, you know that prior to feminism, in the 1950's and 60's and such, women lived as inferior to men. They were unequal. They were not financially independent, they were not fiscally independent, didn't have access to contraceptives, etc. Overall, a woman was technically dependent on a man to live a functional, basic life. This means essentially that, women were obligated partially to choose a man based on needing those life essentials, rather than pure love or attraction.

Traditionally, men were taught to be gentlemen to women, because women needed men for basic needs. I think you will agree with this. This idea of being a gentlemen, and getting the girl you want, worked in the past, because the woman had an obligation to be with the man to provide for her. Women couldn't really live alone in their own apartment, and just date who they wanted or have sex when they wanted.

Now, we progress to the modern world. Feminism takes place. Feminism liberates women, gives them equal rights, freedom, equal work opportunities, etc. Feminism gives an environment to give as many choices to women as men have. In response to this, women are now free to pursue any sexual desires they might want to experience. They can go out and hook up with, or start a relationship with a man of whoever they want. They do not need men for basic necessities, as they did in the past.

Here's the part where it goes bad: In the process of the liberation of women, men have not been adequately prepared for the transition from a largely conservative society to a largely liberal society. Men today are still raised on traditional concepts which are sexist (Treat women extra special, hold the door open for them, pull out their chair, do favors for them). Men are told that these concepts still produce attraction in women, as in (Being Nice) + (Female) = (Sex). When in fact, women in the modern choose men based on attractiveness, and free will.

TRP happens when men try to apply these traditional concepts in a liberal, modern world, and fail horribly. They are confused. They don't understand why it doesn't work. Men need guidelines, just like feminism provides guidelines and empowerment for women. Feminism might not need to provide guidelines, but the abolishment of male gender roles confuses men, it leaves them unsure of how to fit into the modern world in regards tot heir gender.

Agreed, finding masculinity in the modern world can be a challenge, but as you say free will is the defining characteristic. What concerns me is more the focus on (what appears to me to be) a simulation of masculinity rather than a philosophy of life. I don't think TRP gives you a very accurate rendering of the human condition as applied to either gender.

1) I don't think that the Red Pill is in a sense a classic cult as there is no centralized organized charismatic leadership. Also many of the "leaders" of the movement are also denigrated by quite a few members of the community itself. It's an echobox circlejerk, yes, a cult, no.

2) I agree with your point somewhat about the happiness of Red Pillers. However, most Red Pillers see their happiness tied into achieving sexual intercourse, and if The Red Pill pragmatically helps get them sex, then they are happier and thus all aspects of The Red Pill become absolutely true to them. However, I would venture to say that any Blue Piller in a well-adjusted relationship is much, much, happier than your typical Red Piller. The Red Pill is the last refuge of the desperate, and is used by those who realize that they are never going to really like and respect women and be able to find sex that way and have to resort to radical self-improvement and misogynist philosophies to get any semblance of happiness in life. However, this happiness is inferior to the happiness that well-adjusted Blue Pillers get out of their relationships, and every Blue Piller knows it which is why many who identify as Blue Pill don't really hate Red Pillers as much as they pity them.

3) I agree with you here. Many like myself have used the self-improvement techniques that Red Pill likes to claim as their own, while at the same time not claiming that women are inferior and aren't in control of their own sexual choices.

Have you observed hypergamy, SMV, AF/BB etc. though?

I will agree with you on only one thing. I do believe TRP is destructive to the mental health of some posters.

Duh, they're crazy as duck.

Redpillars are hilarious! There is not an actual “Alpha” on the planet that would ever participate in such a forum. Redpillars are quintessential “Betas” pretending to be “Alphas.”

RedPillars are, without question, sopolistic, hamstering beta’s who do nothing but cry and whine and do everything in their power to not take responsibility for their own predicaments and blame the rest of the world. They also are completely unable to listen to any opposing view. In response to contrary opinions and evidence they engage in censorship.

Well, sheesh.

I've always viewed the manosphere as a clearing-house of ideas, techniques, approaches, life-hacks for guys. It's too diverse to be a cult, and too many branches of it disagree too much with each other -- e.g., PUAs vs. MGTOWs vs. MRAs vs. TRPs. These are all different groups, with different ideas -- they share some things in common, but they also have a lot of very obvious differences and disagreements.

Most guys drop by the manosphere, find some things that are useful, use them, and then move on to something else. Generally that's how it works. Some guys stick around as teachers to others of what has worked for them. And some guys stick around and stew in their own anger and resentment for too long, and become bitter. It's true that the latter exists, but it's hugely inaccurate to characterize this as the basis of the manosphere -- it isn't. And, in fact, if you look around, people who are stuck in that angry space are eventually told by other guys in the manosphere -- including at places like TRP -- that they need to move on from that, accept reality as it is rather than being angry about it, and focus on self-improvement. In fact, if you peruse TRP regularly, you'll see that message again and again and again. Trying to move guys beyond the anger phase is something you'll see there regularly.

Of course, there are always new guys coming into the manosphere, and these new guys will almost all go through an anger phase. That's a part of the process of accepting and processing loss per the Kubler-Ross model. The "loss", in this case, is the loss of the worldview they previously had, the "pretty lies" many of these guys were led to believe growing up, which are generally not true. There's a real loss there, and it's that loss that these guys are getting past. And they can also be angry that they were improperly raised and so on, didn't have an adequate father explaining stuff to him as it actually is, and so on. Sometimes this bleeds into a kind of misogyny, but, again, you will see this corrected at TRP as much as it may be upvoted. You will see comment after comment about it being silly to hate women for being who they are and so on. Some guys nevertheless do have trouble getting past this phase, but that's really something they have to work through themselves if they really want to improve their lives.

I have no doubt that there are some people on TRP and elsewhere in the manosphere who have some of the characteristics you talk about, but there are many who do not -- who came from good, intact homes with role models and no mental health problems, but who just got seriously shit on in the dating/mating/relationship aspect of their lives. They come to the manosphere looking for answers that their upbringing, as good as it was, didn[t have. My parents were of the pre-revlutionary generation, and had no clue at all of the market I was going into, and there are many guys out there who have that, even if they are from intact families. The market has changed a lot in the past 50 years and continues to change. Many guys even who have come of age in the last 10-15 years are similarly disadvantaged because their parents are clueless about the current market conditions. The manosphere serves that need, and it's a fairly significant need in our culture among men.

As for the money, I've been in the manosphere since, oh 2006 or so, and I've never purchased a book from anyone, or attended anyone's seminar or anything like that, and I've also never sold anyone anything. I suppose some people will sell the data of the pepole who are looking at their sites, but if I'm going to worry about that I may as well not read the internet at all, because there are many places outside the manosphere that do that. If you're looking to spend money, you can spend money and you may or may not get value, but over my long history of participation in this space, I have never spent a dime -- so it's hardly the "core" aspect of the manosphere.

So, if you don't find it useful, then good for you. It isn't a cult, however. A handful of guys (because that's what it is, a handful) venting on the internet about how they've failed in the dating/mating market and trying to learn how to do better is not a cult. It may be unsavory for you, it may be unsuitable for you, but it isn't a cult.
