I have to admit, some men including myself have come across that phase of being angry, depressed and lonely; but for different reasons to what is implied here.

A lot of men desire a sexually attractive feminine companion that is reliable and genuinely gives a shit about them.

They become lonely and depressed, after realising that such a women rarely exists and is unobtainable.

They become angry, because society has fed them a lie; and what they desire from a woman is all but a projection and an illusion.

Women need a relationship. Some guys have been conditioned into thinking they do as well. The best explanation I've heard is that prehistorically if a woman was on her own, she was as good as dead. A man on the other hand could hunt and build a house. As much as women hate to admit it, men are biologically stronger than women, I don't know why this fact is taboo in society when it is blatantly obvious. Just like we as humans have natural fears since birth from things our ancestors knew would kill us - heights, spiders, snakes - women still have the fear of being alone meaning eminent death.

The main point is that the more men live on their own, the more they don't reach out for help and don't make friends or have a support network.

Now I'm in my 30s and I'm going on lots of dates, I have a couple FwB, and it's plain as day with the older ones I date that they're looking to marry. I'm talking full-on, "paid over $100 for a few plates of sushi," for our dinner date, etc., cleaned her luxury apartment spotless, talks up her job as a psych trying to impress me, etc., because it's what she thinks men look for.

Meanwhile she had a pretty high BMI, wrinkles, and was plainly lonely as fuck. Her outdoor patio wooden chairs had stains around where they hadn't moved in years. She lived alone- (oh, so very, very alone.)

Sure, young men try to marry young women. Young women like to "find themselves." Then they try to marry in their thirties and... well, we're not interested.

I don't know if there is a solution, but while I'm questionable on marriage at all, I'm certainly not marrying a has-been.
