-Just because something is common doesn't mean it's right or good.

-There is plenty of criticism based on the actual relationship rather than just the ages.

-So many women are so abused that they're not going to realize they're being taken advantage of.

I'm in my twenties. I am repulsed by the thought of dating a man 10 years my senior. My friends would side eye me and my family would throw a fit if I decided to be with someone that much older. Because guess what? Those young women you're obsessed with can do better and everyone knows it.

I am in my very early twenties. The idea repulses me. I am still in school (college), have never had a job because my parents support me till I finish my education. I don't have a driver's license. I haven't had a serious adult relationship yet. I have little to none experience about balancing my finances because my parents pay the bills and just give me spending money. But tell me how a thirty something year old man would want me because biology and not because my age and lack of experience would make me an easy partner to manipulate.

When I was 48 I dated a guy who was 31, and I did it for the same reason that men do it. Guy was young, pretty, and there's a vast amount of difference in the sack between a man who's 31 and one who's 50. We didn't really talk much, but that was kinda the point of the relationship.

Age gaps of 8 or even 12 years are actually fairly common between men in their mid 30s and women in their mid 20s. And the controversy around it never comes from those in the relationships themselves, as those in the relationships know why they are in them and want to be in them.

And before you say 'a 22-25 year old woman doesn't know that she's being manipulated' or some such nonsense, just consider how infantilizing and insulting that is to women in their early 20s

No, the reasons a somewhat younger woman would be attracted to a still young but more established man, and why he would also be more attracted to her than someone his own age, are very deep and go back hundreds of thousands or even millions of years. Furthermore, 'most' people instinctively understand these reasons.. not to mention that they are thoroughly understood and documented by science, and backed up by large scale behavioral data collected through dating apps and online activity.

In fact, it's only been recently that the whole '30 something men who date 20 something women are man children who can't handle a woman their own age.' or 'Established men who date younger women are just predators who only want a child that they can mould and manipulate into their perfect subservient slave' shame tactics have started cropping up.

What doesn't get talked about though is that these brow beating methods are, by and large, mostly coming from women who are still single in their 30s or 40s, usually after squandering their more attractive years on partying, hooking up, and avoiding settling down with a good catch while they were still able to catch him, and are only now finally starting to realize that the men their own age who they find attractive aren't paying attention to them anymore, and are instead passing them over for women 8 or 10 years their junior.

And so of course, as it is with just about everything else these days, they attempt to use bullying and reputational harm in hopes of coercing the men that they now want into compliance in their favor.. except they haven't figured out yet that you can't shame a person out of millions of years of evolution.”

Reading the comments from the men there, they say men in their 20's like to party and do drugs and then in their 30's the mellow down. Like wow, it takes men a whole decade to have their fun.

I think they're doing it on purpose so that men in their 30's can date women in their 20's, and that men in their 20's can hope to date women in their 20's when they're in their 30's. And the cycle can continue.
