I’ve (21F) never written a post on reddit, so i wasn’t sure if this post fell under the category of relationships or birth control, but here goes! I have a long-ish history of failed hormonal birth control (like 4 different types of pills, Nexplanon, etc) and currently I’m struggling with vaginal dryness and low sex drive due to hormonal birth control pills. I normally have incredibly high sex drive and no problem getting lubricated during sex, so I know that this is a side effect of the pill.

Additional background regarding my relationship. My boyfriend (26M) is my first official boyfriend and we have been dating for 8 months. He is a fun, interesting person but admittedly he can be a bit selfish in bed. We pretty much have sex more than once a day, and my lack of wetness gives me a lot of anxiety and feelings of inadequacy so I pretty much cannot cum anymore. I mentioned that I want to try the Paraguard (or might even travel to Canada to get the Mona Lisa mini because the paraguard scares the living sh*t out of me!) and was expressing fear about trying out a risky birth control, and my bf told me not to get it because he doesn’t want to feel the strings. That comment really hurt my feelings, since i struggle with side effects, and have had such trouble during sex that I recently got tears near the opening of my vagina during sex. I feel like he favored his momentary pleasure over how it feels for me to live in my own body? Or my enjoyment during the massive amount of sex that we have? I love him and think he’s a great person, but I can’t get over how callous that comment was :( advice?
