Anyone else feel shame for not being traditionally “feminine” due to your assertiveness, courage and leader qualities?
So I would say I have a good balance of feminine and masculine energy. I can be more in my masculine or feminine energy depending on who I am with and my circumstances. I can be very nurturing, emotional, open, and sensitive. I can be very direct, assertive, courageous, fearless, ambitious, and a strong leader.
My therapist says my authentic self seems to have more masculine qualities.. which kinda offended me because I have been trying to get back In touch with my feminine energy. I have chronic ptsd and being in survival mode all the time definitely made me rely more on my masculine energy.
I am struggling to accept that I am not the most feminine woman. I am more natural/simple when it comes to beauty, don’t like wearing much makeup, don’t like shopping, my voice isn’t very high and girly, I am tall (5’9”), i can intimidate men at times because of how fearless and assertive I am.. yes, I am also feminine but I can’t deny that I am not the traditional Snow White or Cinderella feminine Disney Princess. I am like the Pocohontas or Anastasia Disney Princess—I speak my mind, can be firey, can protect my loved ones from being abused and bullied AND nurture them.
I am also struggling with the realization I am probably bisexual. Another reason I don’t feel traditional. It’s hard for me to embrace. I feel less like a woman at times and like men will be less attracted to me. I don’t want a man who acts feminine and girly either it grosses me out (perhaps some projection of shame of my own masculine qualities)... but when I act more masculine, I tend to attract more feminine men.
I am tired of suppressing parts of me, though. It is time I step comfortably in my authenticity. Anyone else relate?
