The more conservative an area is the more patriarchal it will be. Patriarchy makes men think they're the prize, so they put no effort into their appearance. Most men can't even be bothered to wash their ass let alone look fuckable.

There’s men who won’t wash their asshole in the shower because they think touching it (with soap and a washcloth!!) is considered gay. It boggles the kind how people that stupid and dirty made it past infancy.

I'm from the north but now live in the south. I can confirm what you say is true and the gap is often shocking. Another thing I noticed is that women in the south tend to chase men whereas in the north and also in parts of Europe I've visited men pursue women. It is ass backwards here and makes dating a real chore. I will not be a pickmeisha and these entitled southern boys are not used to that.

I noticed the same thing. In more patriarchal societies women don't have as much freedom to choose their mate, consequently they end up mating with ugly losers and the men end up unattractive over generations...Just one of the unfortunate consequence of patriarchy.

Most conservatives are: 1) religious, and 2) oppose access to family planning/abortions. Both of these are detrimental to educating young women.

Religion (Christianity) is an extremely patriarchal, backwards mentality where women submit to their husbands and their life goals are of being a good wife. Many religious, conservative women aim to get married and have kids, rather than getting a degree or a good job.

Lack of access to abortion makes young women far more likely to drop out of high school and never attend college.

Uneducated women have lack of available options, and are forced to settle for whichever men proposes to them first. And are usually heavily disincentivized to divorce.

There is a reason why the incel forums heavily favor a return to conservatism.

I've noticed that there's been a definite shift towards "grunge acceptance" among the conservative segments of US society when it comes to men's clothing. The beauty pageant-perfect standards still apply to women, however.

The acceptance of male slovenliness really seemed to really uptick around the time "Duck Dynasty" became popular on TV. Up until then, your average conservative country music fans in the US were relatively clean-shaven and tried NOT to look too much "like hippies"-- they generally rejected long hair and long unkempt beards. Those who had beards tried to keep them groomed-looking.

An example: I remember when country line dancing was HUGE in the 90s. Men would get dressed up in expensive cowboy boots, pricey hats, wear western ties, expensive jeans, shave themselves clean, etc, just to go dancing. A similar kind of attire was used when they went to church.

Now it's part of their "masculine pride" to dress like hillbilly slobs. No, I don't think they can dance, either.

True but there is also a skills gap in liberal areas. Can he fix the car or things around the house? Mow the lawn? A job worth a damn and no student debt?

Or

Is he emotionally fragile, no survival skills, can't change the oil let alone a tire, sits on his worthless ass playing video games for hours, has a liberal arts degree with mountains of debt and can only get a job flipping burgers?

Unfortunately it seems you end up sacrificing looks or usefulness if you go to certain regions of the u.s. 🙃

I go to a SEC school and I've definitely noticed. Girls are hot meanwhile the guys look like they drink too much beer and stepped out of bed.
