I [32F] met a guy [31] on Hinge a month ago. We saw one another three times in one week, then the next week I saw him and he was behaving strangely and distantly. Now he said he needs space. Does anyone have insight or opinions on this?

"I met a guy on Hinge a month ago. I was coming out of a bad situation with someone I had a few dates with, and he seemed really nice. We chatted a little bit on the app and texted, and he asked me if I wanted to have coffee or just come over and drink tea. I was feeling a little sad and it was cold out, so I just went directly over there. We watched a romantic comedy, kissed, cuddled, and ended up messing around but not having sex. His apartment wasn't clean, basically his kitchen and bathroom looked as though he rarely if ever swept, cleaned the toilet/sink, wiped the counters. His pots and pans were on the stove and weren't clean, so I wasn't comfortable eating the canned soup I brought and had to order takeout. He made a comment that I felt like his place wasn't clean enough, and I told him outright it wasn't but didn't bring it up ever again. I liked him a lot and didn't want to make a huge deal. He was so cute and nice, a good kisser, and made me feel good. I liked talking to him. It turns out he was really sick. He had cancelled on me before due to this, but he was coughing a lot and just seemed very unwell. I stayed and held him because I felt bad for him, but declined spending the night or having sex.

He asked me to come back the next night, so I did. He was still sick. I went down on him. I enjoyed that and didn't want to do more than that. Two days later he asked me to go to the movies with him. He was resting his head on my shoulder and holding my hand, and coughing a lot. He had to get up several times, I guess due to his coughing and he said his stomach was hurting. I went home with him and we almost had sex, but I didn't feel right with him being sick and his apartment not being clean. Other than this, he was a really nice, cute guy and I felt flattered that he wanted to see me multiple times that week.

The following week I asked if I could see him again, and he said okay but only to hook up because he really just wanted to play video games. I said fine, but it was pretty bad because he didn't seem like he wanted me there and only talked to me out of guilt. I did go down on him a couple times and I left. I enjoyed doing it, but not how he was acting. Since then, he has said he needs space and doesn't know what he wants. I haven't seen him in two weeks, only talk via text sprodically. He said we can talk again in a few weeks over the holidays and maybe text here and there, but not see one another. Last night he said he wants to be friends and even asked me if I wanted a sleepover sometime, to which I said yes, then he blocked me on Whatsapp the next day. I sent him a text message asking him what was wrong, why he blocked me on there, and he said I didn't do anything wrong, but he didn't like me asking him questions and he just wanted space. HE said he was not in a relationship and that he thinks I am kind and interesting, he likes me, wants me for more than sex, but he can't deal with all the emotions of our interactions and needs a break. I never had sex with him and wonder if that's all he wanted.

Does anyone have any insight on this? I feel lost. Why would he keep asking to see me then just act like this?"

SIS WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK....
