If there's one thing I've learned over the course of my relationships it is this - Date people who value your time. I had a date last week, where I met a guy who showed up 20 minutes late and sat down without even apologizing. He literally just started talking, as if nothing had happened. You can bet your bottom dollar I stood up. "How hard it is for you to respect my time, when I'm doing you a favor just by being here? ", I said, "You obviously think you're entitled to this date, but I can assure you you're misguided. Have a day." Then I left a tip and left. He looked like I smacked him. People who think your time is expendable, don't value you. The very act communicates disrespect. Point blank. If I can get there on time, so can he. It's not like he doesn't own a watch or can't see the time on his smartphone. He's just not making me a priority, which means, surprise, the relationship won't be a priority later on. This goes the same for cancelling dates last minute without good cause, not being flexible to work around your schedule, and calling/texting at all hours like I'm always available. It doesn't work like that. Thanks for listening. I'd love to hear similar stores, if you'd like to share.
