Sex outside marriage is called fornication and it is sinful (1 Cor 6:9). If you want to have sex, get married first. You can have a big party once the COVID regulations get relaxed.

I wouldn't do that, I would have a small wedding. You can do a big vow renewal in 5 years or something. The important part of the marriage isn't the wedding, so postponing it until you can have a big wedding or the wedding you want while starting a family is backwards to me. Not spending much on your wedding will give you the money to start a family.

Does God join two to become one or does whatever government join you? There is an argument for witnesses biblically for marriage; however, the legal document does not join you two in marriage in God's eyes.

who cares if it’s a big service? contrary to popular belief, the wedding is not for the guests, it’s for you and your partner. the ONLY people that need to be there are your God, you, your spouse, the person officiating and a witness and that’s the end. get it done and THEN when the world calms down in a year throw an after party for family and friends, you can even re-act yours vows for them if they want that.

Statistically, unmarried couples are less likely to stay together until the children are grown.

Seems there is something to standing up in front of a preacher or magistrate and your family and making a vow "'til death do you part."

Why not have a small wedding now and throw a big party later, once restrictions are lifted?

Starting a family before you're married is sex before marriage which is sin. I'd suggest either waiting until the regulations allow the size you want or if you can't wait then why not just do a small wedding and save some money? You can always get together and celebrate when the regulations allow.

I would agree with many of the posters before me. You have three biblical options while complying with mandates:

Have a small ceremony/signing now and schedule a reception/vow renewal later
Have a small ceremony/signing now and don't worry about a big ceremony at all

Marriage is before God and Man, but it is primarily between the two of you. Allowing yourself the opening to get 6 months down the road and decide "We never made it official so I am done" is just a bad plan. Not that you would - but that option would EXIST for both of you, and that is in and of itself an issue. It also gives you an out to keep kicking the can down the road - with no pressure because what is the difference between one kid and three before the ceremony? Finally, being legally married provides you with a significant amount of legal protection and coverage in case something happens to the other. It is important to have the ability to make medical decisions, funeral decisions, and financial decisions for your spouse in the case of an emergency - especially once you have children

Outside of the mandates, or working around mandates? Virtually unlimited options, depending on budget.

Now I know how u/Nildovah quotes Romans 13:1 to imply that it is God's Will you submit to the authorities

But ask yourself this, if you were to go by what his interpretation of the verse is, then if the authorities told you to starve and die of dehydration and you decide not only to eat and drink but eat and drink until you and your family is full, would you be going against Romans 13:1?

If the answer is no, then you are no sinning by committing civil disobedience and marry as you should

Until you have a priest or pastor (depending on your denomination) bless your union after you exchange vows you're not married. Some countries (like the USA) also have secular paperwork to confirm marriage - that can be left until later if it's a difficult time though...we're talking about Christian standards not secular standards.

The biblical ideal and centuries of Christian tradition and precedent is clear - no sex outside of marriage. That means no children outside of marriage as well.

Just have a small ceremony now and file the paperwork. You can have a big reception later. This wasn't that uncommon even before COVID for international couples to have 2 receptions, 1 in each country.

From what I understand as long as you are married within two years of the birth of the child it won't be considered a bastard and I expect that is what all this is about in the long run. Even children born out of wedlock and put up for adoption are supposed to be given salvation if the family that takes them is a married couple.
