I agree but also, it’s unfair for men to cry “no one cares about our mental health” when they were the ones to create hyper and toxic masculinity in the first place. Men need to care about their own mental health if they want others to care about their mental health.

Nope. Look, I dare say we live in the golden age of therapy. Online spheres are chock full of information about mental health. Everybody talks about it, to the point of over sharing IMO. Shit, when I was a teen, the most anyone ever saw was maybe an after school special about suicide, or maybe a high school assembly. Otherwise we just listened to Kurt Cobain because people didn’t talk about it.

A kid hung himself in high school and it was freaky. Nobody talked about it other than to hurriedly whisper about how he died. Some of his friends were offered counseling but people just kind of pretended it didn’t happen.

Nowadays all you have to do is look for the help and you can find options. Even zoom, no in person required. But too many men would rather join incel forums, blame everyone else and some even get violent. All because they don’t want to deal with their shit. They want women to fix their shit for them.

What I fucking hate about men trying to claim that no one cares about anything related to men is that society has historically been disproportionately (to put it mildly) structured to benefit men and address their problems, needs, and desires. Now, when women are finally in the social, economic, and political position to start addressing women's problems, needs, and desires, men want to turn around and cry victim. They want to be able to say that they're the victims of the systemic oppression that they created.

Mental health is important and should be taken seriously regardless of gender. But don't fucking sit there and try to say or imply that women's mental health is taken more seriously than men's. If you know anything at all about the history of psychology, you know that men and their mental health needs have always been the baseline.

The thing is they need to start actually recognizing that they actually need help. Many are in denial and refuse to even talk about their feelings and problems, or when they do they want free therapy because they overstep with opening up about things. Therapists are professionals, they have the education and credentials to help, and they're being paid for it. The women he is seeing casually and hooking up with is not a therapist. Women also need to level up and put their feet down so we are no longer used as free therapists.

And I myself have depression and ocd. I got up, I went to a doc, I looked for a therapist. Nobody did it for me. What do those men expect?? Stop complaining on reddit and go to a therapist my dude.

Men want to improve their mental health but they want WOMEN to do the effort. They will not pay for therapy, instead they will use the women in their lives to do it for free.

They won't stop behaviors harmful to their mental health, because they feel entitled to feel amazing while treating their body and mind like shit. They spend all their days watching porn ( proven not good for mental health), playing video games, eating junk food and sitting down, but expect to feel amazing.

I know there is a lot of other factors contributing to mental health, but you can't live like shit and feel amazing. Also, if THEY cared for men's mental health, they would encourage men to have healthier lifestyle. But no, they just want to whine and have us do things for them.

For a narcissist, therapy doesn't go with the view of themselves. Many narcissistic men know they are sick in the head, but will never go to therapy because it's below them. They need to help themselves, but will only victimize themselves. They don't want to heal, the want pity.

Very true, in my country anyway. I live in nz and there are plenty of advertisements and campaigns where the typical "macho" rugby guy will speak about his depression and encourage other men to speak out about it, that it doesn't make you weak etc. There's also things raising awareness on depression and suicide amongst nz men who are farmers, encouraging people to check up on their farmer friends. Nothing at all about womans mental health. No awareness about post natal depression which is one of the biggest killers in our nation. Nothing about the many other health and hormonal issues, domestic violence, pressures mums face when taking on the whole mental load of a family, nothing about woman. I actually was listening to the radio the other day and they started going on about how "mEn gEt poStNatal depression t0o" Wanted to reach through the radio and slap them.
