In western nations for many centuries, female authors and painters would sign their work with a male pseudonym because women were not allowed to create certain works of art that contained certain elements such as nudity, sexuality, or violence. So some famous works of art by men may have actually been created by women.

Additionally, many famous male authors had female relatives or their wives transcribe for them. There is a growing suspicion that many of these women did far more than merely put men's words onto the page.

Men also stole inventions by women. For example, Fritz Haber was a famous chemist who was married to a chemist, Clara Immerwahr. He stole much of his wife's research and got credit for her work. He also used her research against her will to create chemical weapons used in WWI, much to her dissatisfaction. She mysteriously committed suicide. I think there are many more stories like this that are lost to history.

If you liked this and want to find out more about similar things, you should be able to find a copy of Rosalind Miles’s book, “Who Cooked The Last Supper?” about women’s roles being written out of history. Be warned that there’s mention of sexual abuse and it was written a few decades ago. It seems to mostly cover topics from a White woman’s perspective but I liked listening to the audiobook. If you are a parent and want to change the way your child’s perspective is being shaped to disregard women, do yourself a favor and read this book so that you are better equipped to talk about this.

Actually, even when women were seen as the sole producer of the new child, we weren't exactly treated well. Anything to do with the child or even just its gender was blamed on mother. Not to mention women who were blamed for their husbands' infertility / poor sperm quality (*cough* Henry VIII *cough*)

I want to add to what my sisters said and say that the amount of men throughout history who actually created things has been extremely small. Tesla created things. The average scrote wants credit for it because they both shared a set of genitals.

Whereas, the average woman is more intuitive and perceptive.

We know that sex of a baby is determined by the successful sperm.

In many countries where men blame women for giving birth to daughters, they credit themselves for 'strong sperm' if she gives birth to a boy.

I don't think the top part is historically accurate, and I think the truth is actually worse. This is all based on a book I read called Generation, which is about the history of the science of reproduction. IIRC we knew virtually nothing about how animals reproduce until the ~1600s, and since we didn't know anything everyone just assumed it had everything to do with the man. The woman was seen as just a vessel for the man's all important sperm, and there were all these wild theories adhering to that logic (such as the homonculus, the idea that the entire human baby is contained within the sperm and all the woman does is provide nutrients for it to grow). The discovery of the egg, which happened first in dogs I believe, was a big problem for these scientists because it meant that the woman actually did contribute some to the new lifeform, and their reluctance to believe this set the field back several decades.

I think what she said is funny but also a bit naive to believe there was ever a time men didn't assume their supreme importance in every matter of the world.

I always had this feeling that first 'weapons' were women made, cause a man could outrun or kill an animal while the average woman would need some extra help to protect herself/kill for food. Who knows
