No. The most popular male body type is lean and muscular but not power lifter or body builder status.

For example, Colby Covington, or Jorge Masvidal, or Justin Gaethje. Fit, lean, with muscle so not skinny but not fat.

Hell, i look more like Damien maia's body but I'm trying to lean down to a covington level.

If this is just based on casual observation it's probably shaped by the fact dad bods are more common. Most men are overweight.

No one is looking at your dad bod on the beach though. Being even a little bit overweight is also a great way to lower your facial attractiveness.

If people are attracted to dad bod it's probably confusing the size from fat for formidability/strength cues. All things equal you'd be better off with lean muscle. Might be passable in your favorite t-shirt, but imagine a fat stomach hanging over when you're having sex.

I think you’re very wrong here. Correlation doesn’t imply causation. He could have a number of other factors that make him attractive (primarily the size of his wallet). Women will never decide to be with a man solely because he has a dad-bod, but they will decide to be with a man that has a dad-bod, solely because of the size of his wallet.

This is selection bias. The muscular and athletic lean looking dudes usually don't bother getting in relationships because they prefer casual things with lots of different women - and they can get it. The guy with the dad bod takes the relationship because he can't get do any better.

I had a coworker that would humblebrag all the time, (we worked in a giant freezer) about how his body fat was sooo low, he wouldn't eat the food our managers brought in, really snobby, and also tried flirting with the youngest girls at the job using negs and meanness like a middle schooler (this guy was like mid 30s, looked like a coke addict). The dad bod is safe, it says "I'm not trying hard to look good so I probably am not trying hard for pussy, so I probably won't cheat".

Its what some women who want to be secure in a relationship want, especially AFTER they have the guy.

There are studies I am way too lazy to look up where it showed men in very good physical shape were thought to be more likely to cheat by women.

So if you are dating a woman for a while, shes into you, but you are still working your ass off to keep that 6 pack, she thinks you are hot but shed feel more secure if you backed that off and (this is the important part) also in so doing gave her the mental green light to let herself go a bit as well.

Dad bods don't make women wet, they make women comfortable.
