Left my husband a year ago. Curious to see what is lurking out there in online dating so I made an account a few days ago. Gave only the required basics like age, marital status, etc. No picture, no additional info. Nothing.

I already have a message from some man. I mean, seriously? He just needed to know I have a pulse (not even guaranteed really) and he's establishing contact?? Meanwhile in my pick me days, I would've been so touched that the guy wasn't obsessed with the way I look. Lord 🤦

Meanwhile, I have two (seemingly, time will tell) HVM at work. One of them is relatively new. He's always polite and respectful, offers to help in any way he can (and follows through!) and often tells me how much he appreciates my work and training him. He even brought me chocolate one day as a thank you.

I told the other HVM (we are good friends) about this and mentioned how weird I thought it was. And his response? "Yeah I mean I guess it's weird, orrrr maybe your standards are so low that any nice thing seems weird" OUCH. I sat with that for a second and then cautiously agreed, okay, I can see that. And THEN he goes on to say "I'm not blaming you, it's society that put the bar so low" and I'm over here like JFC it's so fucking true. Then I told him he didn't have to call me out quite like that and he apologized.

So. Yeah. Seeing it in action, HVM want us to have standards. My mind is blown.
