I'm driving across the country with my mom (moving for a new job). My mom flew out to where I was so I wouldn't have to drive alone. Been having some interesting chats along our route and finally dating came up. I told her all about how I don't want to be a mother to man, how they should know how to take care of themselves, emotional labor, etc. The look on her face. Might as well have told her that I was from Jupiter.

She was so shocked, kept telling me not all men are like that, i need to rethink my views or I'll be alone. I asked her what's so wrong about that? She looked pale in the face. She said that if I want them to clean or do laundry, it's a conversation I should have with them. Um, no.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my mom. She's a badass lady who came back strong after she was widowed, but I knew this was not going to go smoothly because of how she was raised (old school Latino culture aka machismo).

Now I feel secure in my ideology, I know exactly what I'm looking for and won't waiver. Keep strong ladies and just know not everyone will under stand. But hey, at least we don't have to clean up after anyone but ourselves! (And maybe a pet or two haha)
