I literally needed this podcasts for not having a panic attack today. It's so nice to hear voices of women who get what's going on, I'm being invalidated every time I say something bad about men. Great podcast as always Queens! I particularly loved the part about not dating men with mental illnesses and how Vice article is trying to make us feel guilty, unemphatatic and monsterous. I think in this era of political correctness, most people mistake being non-racist/sexist/non shaming and open-minded with having 0 choices and preferances. First of all, my body and my personal life is NOT an open democracy. I am not a charity church where people are welcomed regardless of their background, mental health, career, cultural background and race. In fact, my body and my life is MY own autocracy which is ruled ruthlessly by a monarch: ME, the queen. I don't have to be lovers and friends with mentally ill people, I don't have to date democratically, I don't have to be open to all cultures and races. Yes, I have to be respectful towards cultures, races, circuimstances and illnesses, but that doesn't mean that I should devote my most private parts to it. I really don't understand how people can mistake being a 21st century modern person with being an 24/7 open hospital. I am not gonna discriminate people for being who they are in daily life, obviously. But also I am not gonna take everyone in into my private life. I am so sick of this narrative of "being open to everything, being non-discriminative in personal life, being open to poor, addict, ill etc. I will not.

My mom has what I realise it to be borderline personality disorder and she became an alcohol addict. I've cut the ties for 10 years now. I am so sick of people trying to convince me to be more open to her problems. I don't have to be. It's her life. Her choice. As her child, I don't have any responsibility on her wellbeing. I didn't chose my parents. I wasn't the one who avoided all treatmens and jumped straight into parenthood. In fact, she should've been worrying about my growth and wellbeing. Just like that, I have 0 (a huge fucking ZERO) responsibility on a stranger's health, welfare, behaviour etc. If I don't like it, I won't take it because I. AM. NOT. A. DEMOCRATIC. INSTITUTION. I am a person with veeeeery subjective beliefs.

I don't understand why it is OK to be attracted to blondes and repelled by long hair for example, but it is horrific to be repelled by mental illness, poor background, bad life choices etc. I am not a church. I am not a all-inclusive hotel where everyone is treated equally.

I own my right to be subjective in personal life. I won't judge you as your teacher, lawyer, doctor or colleague, and I will treat you equally. But I will not be lovers with you, I will not be friends with you. I will not let you in my life because it. is. my. own. choice!

Sorry for long post, this topic always gets into my nerves.

I love this podcast. I originally thought I wouldn't understand it because I'm not very active on reddit but actually I'm finding it's wonderful. I used to love the Guilty Feminist podcast but as I became more critical of libfem, I couldn't enjoy it anymore. I hope this podcast will fill that gap for funny, feminist chat.
