Are there any countries that are trying to address issues related to men’s rights?

This cafe was in Melbourne, rather than Sydney as stated.

It shut down almost two years ago, so the article is outdated.

[–]metalnotorious 402 points403 points404 points 5 years ago (97 children) | Copy Link

That's what happens when you live in your own bubble. They thought there would be more man hating women because they are like that:)

[–]d_nijmegen 168 points169 points170 points 5 years ago (94 children) | Copy Link

Projecting is the female super power. Too bad it only really works on the one projecting

[–]metalnotorious 101 points102 points103 points 5 years ago (87 children) | Copy Link

What can we say Toxic feminity

[–]d_nijmegen 117 points118 points119 points 5 years ago (86 children) | Copy Link

Toxic women. I hate toxic masculinity as a term and I decided to refuse using it back.

Toxic thundercunt is sufficient for me.

[–]metalnotorious 43 points44 points45 points 5 years ago (84 children) | Copy Link

Exactly just the idea that masculinity is toxic is infuriating. Masculinity is about protecting others its not every guy's fault that some guys are not using the term right

[–]d_nijmegen 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I call the thing they want to describe, narrow masculinity. Doesn't sound insulting and explains what happens a lot better.

[–]metalnotorious 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I started calling it pseudo masculinity

[–]d_nijmegen 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Pseudo is a term describing something fake or disingenuous, it again, excludes genuine masculine traits.

It's not pseudo manly to think emotions can't be shared. It's a narrow view on what a man can do.

I don't agree with your term, sorry.

[–]metalnotorious 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh it was a satire how Feminist instead lf owning that many women use Feminism to spread misandry call such Feminist pseudo feminist

[–]d_nijmegen 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well there it's disingenuous, so it fits.

[–]GynocentrismCan_SMD 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (75 children) | Copy Link

just the idea that masculinity is toxic is infuriating

that's not what is meant be the term...

[–]kanniget 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (74 children) | Copy Link

But this is an example of the problem with the term. It's overly used to cover all masculine behaviour, and even feminine behaviour.

What feminists originally referred to as toxic masculinity are the toxic cultural behaviours that are used to define what it is to masculine.

The truth is that it's not the behaviour of the male as an inherent masculine trait that's the problem, the majority of these behaviours are reactions to innapropriate social expectations that are placed in the male from a young age and what the Gillette advertisement really screwed up was the idea that this behaviour is taught solely by the father placing the blame solely at the feet of men.

I do think there are many behaviours that are indeed toxic in this cultural miasma associated with masculinity.

There are 2 huge problems with this term.

1) the framing of this is poor and results in the entire blame for these behaviours on men, despite the majority of men learning these behaviours from their dominant parental figure , who according to feminists is rarely the father.

2) it ignores the myriad of toxic behaviour that is modern feminity and even serves to allow the blame for these behaviours to be purely the fault of men.

So we end of in an emotional circle jerk of impose toxic behaviour expectations on our sons, teach our daughters it's all their fault, daughters get upset.... Toxic masculinity, rinse repeat with next generation.

[–]newtothelyte 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The term has been run through the political mud. It has lost all or most of its original meaning and now holds no weight in any meaningful way. It has now become a catchphrase used to make fun of the people that used to use it. You can throw it in the pot with the following words or phrases:

Defund the police

Socialism

Safe space

Cultural sensitivity

Cancel culture

Climate change

[+]GynocentrismCan_SMD -8 points-7 points-6 points 5 years ago (72 children) | Copy Link

But this is an example of the problem with the term. It's overly used to cover all masculine behaviour, and even feminine behaviour.

That's not a problem with the term, that' a problem with the people using it...

[–]kanniget 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (71 children) | Copy Link

No, it's a problem with the term that allows the term to be mis-used.

They are just culturally cultivated behaviours that are deemed toxic. The problem with using masculinity as a part of the term encourages it to be deemed a male behaviour and as such only the fault of men.

Reality is all genders have behaviour that is toxic so we should be calling them what they are. Toxic behaviour, not toxic masculinity as it's not masculinity that is toxic, only particular behaviours.

[–]GynocentrismCan_SMD -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (63 children) | Copy Link

it's a problem with the term that allows the term to be mis-used.

No, the problem is that people are stupid...the term is fine.

[+]GynocentrismCan_SMD -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Toxic behaviour, not toxic masculinity as it's not masculinity that is toxic

A guy spending his entire paycheck on a woman to try and get sex is an example of "toxic masculinity".

So please stop replying to me, you're out of your league here. You have no idea what you're talking about.

[–]BitterAdult -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s not what toxic masculinity means... Why don’t you just look into something before speaking about it? It’d save you from being so unnecessarily offended.

[–]NameGiver0 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

toxic masculinity

I've never heard the phrase brought up as a 'problem' except by toxic cunts, regardless of their genitals.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go that far. Projection is just a tactic people use.

Plausible deniability is the super power, so it goes unnoticed and unchecked when they do it.

[–]d_nijmegen 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

These women advertised with their misandry, in writing with signs. I think they lost the element of plausible deniability

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, which is why it didn't work.

They did, however, go through most of their life being treated uncritically because they usually had plausible deniability.

Icarus flew too close to the sun kind of thing.

[–]d_nijmegen 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You mean, basically. Being subtle enough to get away with it, is the super power? That would be true in my opinion, is that the point?

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No I mean there's a breaking point beyond which people see rank opportunism/prejudice for what it is.

[–]d_nijmegen 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So basically, not being subtle enough and people sniff it out. Why say no? You repeated me almost exactly

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But all the profits are supposed to come from men though. Assuming they have a competitive price, making it a discount for women and men paying their tab, like everything in life.

Making it something like : I’m gonna spit on your face, now give me your money. My survival depends on it. Just idiot fucks, doing idiot things, I guess.

[–]ThrownAwayAndReborn 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No they thought they could charge night club prices at a cafe and promote this cafe as a premier place to meet women (just like night clubs do).

Except this was a dumb business idea and was never going to work. You can't do the night club model and purposefully/openly antagonize men

[–]Cainer666 114 points115 points116 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

women seeking equality = strength

men seeking equality = fragility

ok, moving on.

[–]DraganTehPro 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sexist when a man does it, empowering when a women does it.

[–]DarkCrowI 97 points98 points99 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It shut down awhile ago now, they definitely had it coming since they broke cardinal customer service rules.

[–]gordo31 257 points258 points259 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

This happened over two years ago, according to the date of the article.

I'm glad that the community shut them down rather than COVID-19.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 54 points55 points56 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And it's in Melbourne rather than Sydney.

[–]Ihadsumthin4this 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had a teacher named Sidney Melbourne.

He was not a feminist.

[–]Farseer_Uthiliesh 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's right.

[–]Frontfart 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Of course it's Melbourne.

Melbourne is San Francisco without the human shit everywhere.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Brunswick is inner suburban Melbourne. The inner suburbs of our major cities are saturated with wokeists. Typically they are middle and upper middle class twits who have never known a moment's hardship in their lives.

[–]Frontfart 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And Green voters. During the drought, they sipped wine and ate cheese and voted for the lunatics who want to stop farmers using river water for irrigation.

[–]MillennialDan 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Covid policies, you mean.

[–]RelativeBirdz 71 points72 points73 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What discrimination. It's a shame they weren't forcibly closed by the courts.

[–]SonOfHibernia 44 points45 points46 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s far better they were forced to close because their worldview was shattered, rather then their having someone to blame-which of course would have been the patriarchy. Much more satisfying with no courts, no protests, just reality and a nice fat shitburger to eat.

[–]d_nijmegen 59 points60 points61 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope they end up in debt

feminist cafe in Sydney (Australia), aimed at vegan lesbians and that created controversy for establish a “tax on men” charging them 18% more

Presumably the problem was them working 18% less hours to keep the shop open...

[–]Ryxsen 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh no, repercussions for excluding 49% of the population, who would have thought.

[–]VittorioFeltri 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The demographic of browbeat men who'd accept this and harpy women who'd enjoy it already has its own stomping grounds without a place that revolves entirely around it.

[–]SharedRegime 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Another way of looking at this is showing that man hating isn't as prevalent as the internet makes us believe it is.

[–]888Kraken888 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly this. Along with 1000 other things the Russian bots are brainwashing us with and trying to divide people.

[–]Elfere 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't very well take your date there and expect them to pay for you if it's gonna cost him 36% more because of a dick move made by feminists.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cafe was not in Sydney. It was in Sydney Rd in Brunswick, Melbourne.

[–]silent_thunder1618 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah I didn't eve got to read the piece to realize that, they use that excuse like comics use magic to justify things the can't explain...

[–]rudos11 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Interesting how it is shut down due to lack of customers and not anti-discrimination laws...I mean if we reversed this then it would 100% be closed because of discrimination. Hence why Gentlemen's Clubs are no longer in existence. Happy to be corrected if that's not the case.

[–]spookypen 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It probably could have been, but I feel like no one cared enough to bring a suit against some lame hole in the wall coffee shop.

[–]rudos11 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah for sure. Usually because I think guys generally don't complain. Just deal with whatever the issue is and optimise towards that or ignore it if it's not worth it.

[–]The_Beardy_Man 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To me, the most ironic thing about feminism is that they're acting exactly like asshole men. They, feminists, are literally the worst version of men.

And they don't even realize it (again, asshole men)

Isn't this a copycat act considering I believe a similar cafe in America did the same thing, and as the saying goes "go woke go broke".

We should stop calling plain and simple misandry as feminist.

[–]TwiggyFriend 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

But feminism relies on misandry

Asking for the right to own property, recibe education and vote is misandry?

[–]TwiggyFriend 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh ok, now I understand the question, no. They say they fight for equality and it’s all bullshit, by definition, feminism is fighting for equal rights but actions speak louder than words, these people will do anything to degrade men, in one instance, going, protesting and shutting down a meeting that discussed about the high percentage of male suicide, they don’t care about men, they just want to empower themselves, they constantly fight against fathers rights and much more. I can say that I fight against racism, but then I go and beat up a bunch of minorities for no reason, it’s not how it works. If you fight for equality, ur not feminists, ur egilitarianist.

Exact my point

[–]TwiggyFriend 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Also women are more likely to receive scholarships and more likely to be chosen to attend a college or university over a man. Women are also more likely to vote than men.

Incels rejoice! 2 year old news with tons of misleading info in it has been posted. Quick upvote it so we can forget about our own issues that are the reason we're here in the first place!

[+]blue_water_red_sky -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Very biased article, really couldn't read it without cringing. They are just parroting ben Shapiro antifeminist talking points and instead of reporting the news just giving their own "feminist bad" opinion. Which, to be fair, in this case is true obviously, but they're painting the picture like this is common or something. Very dumb

[–]Reaper12543 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

the fact that they were allowed to discriminate like this in the first place is what's concerning

[–]blue_water_red_sky 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but also I am not a fan of biased news, that's all

[–]wildfire2k5 -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]omidoggo 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not popular tho. Wanna know why?just reverse it..

[–]crossoverfan96 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

that's not the point and the cafe wasn't even popular when it was gaining controversy
