Honestly Gucci doesn't even execute it that well, Thom Browne did it back in SS18 with a wedding dress + suit combo, that is stylish and actually red carpet worthy. Men should be able to wear a dress. I think the idea of brands making dresses for men is great. Not this dress.

Check out UTKILTS. I wear the ultra kilt for hiking and camping. There is a race in NJ called the KiltRun that I was hoping to compete in this year but the pandemic is just too dangerous. This kilt has back pockets and side pockets just like pants, plus a front pocket that is perfect for a phone. It looks like men's clothing. It just happens to be a dress. I think THAT is the key to brands making dresses for men that men want to wear.

Laughing at this isn't enough. We need to figure out what reasoning would make this make sense. I believe it goes something like this: The ultimate source of society's problems are the idea that men and women are and/or should be different types of people. So we can solve the pay gap, the life expectancy gap, and domestic violence by making dresses for men and cod-pieces for women.

It probably goes without saying. But I don't agree with that way of thinking. Taking a page from Nigel Barber, you won't see the real cause of human behavior in attitudes and norms. But you will see it in markets, including mating markets.
