Jean-François Debat, the chairman of the Bourg-en-Bresse council, is unapologetic. “I think it’s comical to be punished for this reason,” he said. “Not only do I stand by our appointments, I’m proud of having so many women in our management teams.”

According to the local prefecture, the district council has appointed four women for each man in a senior post.

Wow, the French are approaching feminist equality. They just need to get rid of the few remaining men.

As a feminist I have a problem with this. We need to be encouraging more women to go into management. This fine just proves there's a glass ceiling and the patriarchy is active and abusive. So what if 100% of managers are women? You should care about equality as these women are your sisters, mothers, friends.

Unfortunately I need to add this is sarcasm as what I wrote is too fucking realistic.

Who has to pay the fine? if it's the people then nothing will change and they will get fined again. they should fine the department that let this happen, and the money should be deducted from their wage not passed on to the people who pay their taxes IE men.

Many workplaces are female dominated. From what I have seen once a workplace has a female boss especially she usually hires all women.

I dont agree with the fine on the stance that those women EARNED the position.

If they were given it because theyre women however, then the fine should stand and should br magnified based on sexual descrimination.
