you always hear about women giving ultimatums to their bf/husband/fiance who are depressed, addicted, and/or are out of a job, etc (essentially, dudes who have something preventing them from achieving their full money making potential), but never the flip side.

and then they get praise for 'leaving a toxic/abusive relationship', yet in reality, they abandoned a dude when he was at his lowest.

[–]grandmasbroach 190 points191 points192 points 7 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I think the opiate epidemic is a perfect example. Men abuse the medications more. But, that is usually for the conversation ends on the topic. No one bothers to ask, why does it affect men more? If I had to guess, I'd say it's because most opiate addictions start with prescription pain meds. Men, being the majority of people injured, whether through their occupation or just pure accident. Would then logically be prescribed these medications at a higher rate, causing at least the potential to lean more towards males.

Source. Happened to me. Was a combat medic paratrooper and got hurt when my parachute malfunctioned about 50 feet up. To say I got lots of morphine would be an understate. I eventually switched to Suboxone and am now getting off those too.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Opiates are also the closest drug to feeling loved. If you’ve been starved of love/intimacy like a large portion of men, I can see why they turn to it. If no one is going to love them, at least it feels like opiates do.

[–]benfranklinthedevil 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I really hope you don't actually feel that way. Opiates do not make one feel...anything. their numbness is what people seek. There is no love in that, that is the opposite, and if you feel that way, you need to discuss with professionals about your addiction. They don't just kill pain. Feelings, emotions, and hours also get killed. I hope I never equate love with numbness

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’ve just heard it described that way by herion addicts. It’s just one that stuck with me because it’s a scary description, “a warm loving hug.” I’ve only had a 3 day narco script for a separated shoulder one time, and while it didn’t feel like being loved I could see how they could be related. This isn’t from personal experience. Sorry if I may have offended.

I appreciate his disagreement more than your attack.

[–]IronJohnMRA 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is a very interesting notion. I did not know this about opiates. This might be an idea worth exploring further.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have you looked into kratom? I've used it instead of drinking coffee for about a year. My ex used it for pain from a car accident, boss kicked alcohol using it and it helped some friends through opiate withdrawls.

Just like anything else, moderation is key in finding routine dosage that works for you

There's different strains with different benefits

[–]Crusty_Gerbil 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

+1 on Kratom. Great stuff.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good job dude. We can't always choose to become addicted but we can choose to get off drugs.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Had a major surgery, got perscibed opiates. Filled the RX but threw out the rest after 3 days and just dealt with the pain. Hated being dopey and drowsy and unaware. Felt like I was wasting my life, even if it hurt.

[–]PeacefullyFighting 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you need rehab to detox? I'm so willing to switch to Suboxone but worried about how long I need to take off. Thanks

[–]igotapickle 44 points45 points46 points 7 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I have a drinking problem that is under control. I say “have” cause that problem can return if I let up on the war. I knew my drinking was damaging my marriage so I put the bottle down. My mom was dying and I was flying back and forth to see her as she plummeted and rebounded over and over. I was six months sober and my wife leaves me...six weeks before i held my moms hand and watched her take her last breath. Literally the absolute worst timing imaginable. She then goes on to post on social media about how she’s so strong and independent. I still haven’t had a drink in over 2 years and 3 months. I got better and she still left. I’ll never get married again. And this post and your comment are 100% true.

[–]thetewi 18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ah yeah, that’s your typical strong independent woman right there

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All my sincere best regards for you.

[–]igotapickle 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This just happened to me (I'm French). Gf of 1 year said 'I don't love you anymore' after I'd been feeling low from work for a while.

Of course, on the other hand she was expecting 100% support from me and speaking heavy reproaches if I ever dared not listen fully.

I've had this conversation many times. So many people romanticize the idea of unconditional romantic love. It does not come close to existing. Romantic love is arguably the most conditional form of love there is. Even something like money can destroy it.

[–]Cuive 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Who wants love that is unconditional? Love earned every day is the greatest experience, because the human condition requires effort for us to value anything for any real long-term.

I don't know about anyone else, but the idea that my wife would still love me if I beat her would make me respect and value her less. I WANT her to leave me if I don't prove myself worthy by treating her with the respect she deserves.

[–]seraph85 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Tons of folks want the notion of unconditional love. I agree with you that it would be hollow and not something you should want if you think critically about it at all.

To want uncontrollable love isn't a logical thing however it's just emotional I can see the allure of someone loving you so much that nothing can change that.

I think the only real unconditional love is from a parent, more frequently a mother. You see it all the time with the mass murderers and other criminals. Despite everything they've done the mother is still there, even giving interviews about how much they love their child.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s a tough lesson to learn. You think it’s a thing and then it’s gone

[–]Yarthkins 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a bastardization of a biblical concept. The Bible outlines different kinds of love and refers to unconditional love, but not as between two people in a relationship. The unconditional love referred to is a one directional kind of love from God towards his creation and the idea is that humans are incapable of it.

[–]ash-leg2 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My love for my dog is too. He absolutely provides me with something, it's joy and love. His love for me is conditional too, he hated his previous owners because they treated him like shit. Same goes for my partner, we give and take.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Love is supposed to be conditional. It's what's kept our species afloat.

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What are the conditions?

[–]mediocre_trombonist 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]LovingThatPlaid 109 points110 points111 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

the inevitable

Assuming that everyone is going to get divorced/stop loving their spouse is insanely pessimistic and just dumb

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Still, it's better to treat every gun as if it were loaded.

Never point your wife at anything you do not intend to shoot

[–]v573v 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I suppose you’re talking about divorce? That’s a pyrrhic win for either of us so aside from hating the other person we’d have to also hate ourselves and our children in order to initiate that mess. The conditions we have for each other aren’t all that difficult to meet or at least they are significantly less difficult than meeting the everyday struggles that come with the poverty that a divorce would bring.

[–]ijnenak 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's OK. I like cats too. I reckon your original downvotes were from the dogs.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 174 points175 points176 points 7 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link

That could probably be

women, girls, and dogs are loved unconditionally

and still be accurate

Even boy children get their genitals mutilated against their will at birth because "women think it looks better". Or are sexually abused by female teachers or other women who are then given Pussy Passes because "why did he complain anyway??" And too many people don't care specifically because they're boys and not girls

Male disposability is an issue for all men and boys in general, and it needs to be challenged as much as possible

Foreskin restoration is a thing. I'm trying it, and dude it works. slowly. AMA.
I never thought that topic would naturally come up lol

Edit: r/foreskin_restoration

[–]Itsallsotires0me 14 points15 points16 points 7 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

That sounds like magic lmao

[–]VectorLightning 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link

Heh, kinda does huh? But it's simple.

Short version, if you keep what skin is left stretched consistently, it'll grow longer. Similar science to the thing with gauged ear piercings.

I said simple. Not easy. It takes ages to do by hand. There are a few devices that can do it though. Trust me, even though it looks like a medieval torture device, it doesn't hurt at all if you do it right. I'm wearing it right now, no weird bulge in the pants or anything.

Edit: r/foreskin_restoration

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

You'll never get the nerves back though

[–]VectorLightning 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

The nerves from the skin? Yeah, toast.

The nerves on the glans, the "spearhead"? They're not dead, they're hiding under the chapped skin.

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I feel like that's some pseudoscience. You have a source on that?

[–]VectorLightning 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Restoringforeskin.org is where I learned everything.

Experimentally, I've found it to be true, its more sensitive when its been covered more often than not. With plastic or something counts.

[–]VectorLightning 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can ask r/foreskin_restoration

[–]rorqualmaru -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The mucous membranes can’t be grown back either.

[–]VectorLightning 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Your lips are mucous membranes. When your lips are chapped, there's a layer of dead cells who spent their dying moments building a keratin wall. That's what happened to the glans. It does take longer, but it does heal.

[–]rorqualmaru -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't do squat for the mucous membranes lost with the foreskin, which is the majority

[–]VectorLightning 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Just ask some of the guys from r/restoring_foreskin. Trust me, with time and protection it does heal. Sometimes more one than the other.

[–]Crusty_Gerbil 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You just do though. With restoration you’re not simply stretching the existing skin. By applying pressure, the cells undergo mitosis and grow new skin.

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude....every cell in your body goes through mitosis every day. Should brush up on your biology. The nerves are lost and do not grow back.

[–]SuperSMT 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But... why?

[–]VectorLightning 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Few reasons. Most of them to spite the people who did it.

Also I for one like the intact look, no homo.

Also, intact guts have more sensation down there, and having the cover back recovers most of it. The "spearhead" is covered in a similar membrane to your lips, get all chapped when dry and rubbed raw. If you're cut, it's all rough but if you're intact it's smooth and maybe even shiny. And more sensitive then.

Edit: r/foreskin_restoration

[–]AlligatorChainsaw -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

he just mean he pulls on his cock to stretch the skin

you cant regrow your foreskin

[–]Crusty_Gerbil 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You can. Stretching the skin causes new skin to grow.

[–]AlligatorChainsaw -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

...

youre not serious about this are you?

stretching skin isnt it growing its stretching

the skin and nerves that were are gone and foreskin isn't a loose flap that hangs off your dick like a stretched out sweater ...

sorry.

[–]Crusty_Gerbil 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Sorry. My use of “stretching” here was confusing.

What I mean to say is that the tension you apply to the skin stimulates mitosis and causes new cells to grow. It’s not just stretching the existing skin out. It is physically regrowing it.

Go to r/foreskin_restoration for more info.

you are colossal moron if you think you can regrow foreskin because you can stretch skin

theres a difference between what was cut off and the hanging flap skin youre tugging on

im sorry youre to stupid to get that

[–]VectorLightning 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We know there's a difference. And its not okay, I agree. But it's better than nothing. It still looks intact, has better glide, and restores sensitivity to the glans.

[–]AlligatorChainsaw 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But it's better than nothing.

maybe to you. I personally am cool with how it is. might not have been my choice, but that doesn't mean I need to tug on my dick until there's a loose flap of skin...

[–]VectorLightning 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm making progress. And talked to a guy who's documented completely recovery on restoringforeskin.org

[–]RealHannahMontana4 points 7 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Genital mutilation for 90% of history was religous. Nowadays its only so prominent because a lot of men who had it done to them want the same for their son. But i agree its fucking dumb and needs to be illegal

[–]StardustOasis 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Isn't it only the US that practices it for non-religious reasons? Here in the UK it's extremely rare for non-religious reasons.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't... Boy am I glad I'm Spanish and my parents didn't believe in that. I was pretty damn shocked when I learned just how common it is in the US.

[–]MedullaOblongatashit 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah this is pretty over the top man. You can blame religion and society for circumcision, not some sort of bias to dislike boys more so it's cool.

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's not at all why circumcision is so popular.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 7 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I know this post talking about a different topic, but. I just want to say, i prefer friendship more than Love (i mean that one , more than friendship) . Maybe because i didn't love someone (+ phobias, fears, trying to avoid NTR / Netorare stuff, low self esteem and etc.) . I love everyone as friend, but not more than that. And i like that BOND OF FRIENDS, BROS. I think breaking that BRO BOND more hard, than breaking LOVE BOND. Sorry for my English

And it's just my oponion. If you want me to drown in downvotes and etc. , i don't care. Do it. I'm just saying what i want to say. I'm not trying to be rude and i respect every oponion

And you can say, i'm virgin and i don't have 0 personal experience about love. But i think, relationship is not always a cute, awesome and etc. thing. It's have own problems, difficulties and so on. I'm even not talking about some depressing stuff it can have. Also i'm just appreciate my freedom and i'm just playing videogames, listening music, talking with friends and just having fun. Being "alone" have has own advantages

I got ALOT of hate and I didn’t even do it, she co to yes to hate me and criminalize me, if my teacher want so understanding I guarantee worse things would’ve happened. Even now still, she is constantly coming at me and making up lies about me. She admitted that the relationship was fake according to her and when we got into an argument about it a few days later I brought it up and said she told me how she dated me out of pity and how all she did was toy with me and then guess what she did, she said that I said all of those things and not her, that I hate her and she doesn’t hate me, that whenever we talk although I’m usually the more clam and rational/reasonable she says I get an attitude. Honestly I couldn’t love her unconditionally but I still put 95% of my effort taking care of her and she made the entire relationship about her, I’m sad to say that even in middle school that’s what a lot of the girls are like, nobody talks about it and if you bring it up and you call them out you get ganged up on. Also I go to a predominantly black school in a predominantly black community so as a black male some of you might know how I feel.

I’m 13

I don't judge anyone because of age and etc. . But, when i was 13 - 14 . I was played a lot of Sega Genesis games and COD, NFS series (Still playing sometimes Sega Genesis games and etc.) and playing SAMP with friends . I didn't even care about being with someone and etc. . Maybe because i'm gamer. Now i'm 21. My advice, have fun and be with friends. Just my oponion

[–]NyxionYT 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks. Good to know we have someone looking out for others.

Different people become sexually aware at different ages. For me, the idea of being competely non-sexual at 13 is just bizarre. But that's just because it is counter to my own experience.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Different people become sexually aware at different ages

I know that. But still, thanks for explaning, bro. I'm just told my story when i was 13 - 14. heh. I love games, arts and etc. a lot, so i'm from childhood playing games, listening music and etc. a lot

[–]thrownaway2thewind 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm with you my dude. Love is literally a chemical reaction that we get addicted to. I don't want to get addicted to a person all for it to not work out or she trades up, it's happened to me before and the soul crushing nature of it made me ask "Why am I putting myself through all of this to be burned in the end every time?" It was just easier to be a good friend to everyone I knew than to force monogamy in a society that doesn't value long term bonds. It's less drama, stress, and more time to do what's important

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well...i have my waifus. heh. I can be in peace with 2D world. I can feel my wish to be with someone i love, when watching and etc. my waifu. I'm gamer, a bit otaku and etc. . heh

Even it's not real, still feels good. I love romance and etc. stuff. Watching, listening and etc. to something like this, just melts my heart. Nya

[–]DaSaw 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, I do the same. Married once, the relationship was horribly abusive, got out. No good model of marriage from the parents, either. Figure it's best to stay out of that sort of thing entirely, use anime and VNs to take the edge off romantic deprivation, porn to take the edge off sexual deprivation.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

VNs to take the edge off romantic deprivation, porn to take the edge off sexual deprivation.

Well, there is VNs with both of them. For example Majikoi

[–]Phosphoric_Tungsten 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's pretty pessimistic. Literally all of our emotions are chemical reactions. Love is great and is more than just "a chemical reaction we get addicted to"

[–]thrownaway2thewind 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess it's a pretty pessimistic way of saying I'm in it for the long term. A relationship is a decision and I suppose I'm an all or nothing kind of guy now.

[–]DaSaw 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but I think the evolutionary "idea" behind the "romantic chemical" is that it convinces us to attach ourselves intimately to someone who is otherwise a stranger. By the time we become tolerant to the chemical (and thus it stops working), we're already thoroughly integrated, with a child, and thus it's too late to turn back.

But in our society, it's never too late, particularly for a woman. Birth control is a thing, meaning once the chemical stops working it's easy to leave, leaving one or both partners to deal with withdrawal; this is the last point where equality holds.

Because if she does get pregnant, she can choose to abort if she doesn't want the kid. The man, however, is on the hook for material support from the moment of conception; he has no choice. Further, once the child is born, if she doesn't want the man, she can just leave, no questions asked, and still continue to receive a portion of his income.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Also i think, i'm will be jealous sometimes if i have girlfriend. I think this can be problem sometimes. But this side of me doesn't show to anyone, because i don't care if it's just friend, close friend and etc. . Something like "Do whatever you want, bro. I don't care" . And i think it's amazing. If i have girlfriend, i will say same thing but without "i don't care" . I think it will be depressing and i will just go being single, if i don't like something and person will not try to do something about it

By the way , i have wish to find someone i will love and be with her forever. But...you know. Not everyone loyal in this world. If friend, close friend will betray me, i will not be angry or sad. Just will think what was cause and be more careful with that person, but still be friends if he / she wants. BUT, if that does Girlfriend. I will probably fall to depressing and it will just crush my feelings. I don't want that. I have big trust issues if it's about love. I will trust friend, close friend. But not someone who will say "I love you (in not friendly way)" .

And i think, i will be forever virgin. heh. First reason because i don't wanna do something with person i don't love. Second reason, being loyal to THAT PERSON I LOVE (In future i mean, if i will fall in love with someone). I know maybe it's sounds stupid. Final reason, i have Hemophilia , Hepatitis C (Not active) and low selfesteem. And fear being dominated, if someone will try to do something to me. It will be probably end relationship and risk breaking friendship with that person. Just one of the my worst fears. I don't like that. I don't have anything against it, if you or someone like that. I respect your oponion. But i don't want that

So many fears, phobia and etc. stuff. But it doesn't show up, if i'm only friend, close friend with someone. And i don't think i can love someone more than friend. I'm Neutral - Pacifist and again i love that bonds of friendship.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love (and respect) my husband unconditionally. I don’t like him unconditionally (and vice versus). We are going through a rough patch. It is sometimes really hard to be around each other and we are working through it. There are some days I just dislike him and I know for certain he feels the same way. The biggest (but not only) reason I’m fighting for us to stay alive as a couple is because I love him. Plain and simple... I don’t want anyone else even with everything we’ve been through together.

Although this is a good post, the title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay maybe I'm not welcome here because I'm a woman but I can tell you for myself personally this is absolutely untrue.

If I'm to get into a relationship with a man, the love is absolutely conditional.

It's conditional to if I provide enough sex for him (a lot of the time I do feel like having sex and it isn't providing but I have pretty much every partner of mine in the past either imply or outright say if we don't have more sex he'll get it elsewhere or leave me for someone. So I feel forced to have sex and when I feel forced under the condition he won't love me otherwise then I consider that providing sex).

It's conditional to whether I'm pretty enough and if I'm not attractive enough, I'm just a fuck buddy to them.

I absolutely have never believed men will love me unconditionally just for me. To maintain a relationship I have to constantly be proving myself to them. Proving I'm good enough company, my humour is good enough, I'm intelligent enough to talk to but not so intelligent they feel threatened, I have to validate them constantly (even worse that I've had previous partners so I have to convince them that they are the best I've been with, I don't want to with anyone but them, they're the best at sex etc while they've had previous partners and that's just life. All I can do is work my hardest to be the best and if I'm not then I'm just not good enough and should be grateful they look past that or I just need to give more blow jobs to make up for it)

I know I'm one woman out of billions and even though I've had a few relationships with a variety of different kinds of guys that it's still a small amount. But even seeing other relationships, I've never seen the woman just loved and idealised unconditionally while the man has to prove something.

I hope I'm not causing offense, I am here and willing to listen to other sides. I'm here to be willing to listen to advice to how I can make future partners of mine feel more valued and loved. It just kinda hurt to see that I feel like I have to try so hard to prove myself to potential men and see things like this saying 'oh women don't even try' maybe it's just 10/10 women that don't need to try.

The only person that loves you unconditionally is maybe your mother. I don't think you understand the meaning of unconditional. If your friends cheated......No more love. What if they started gambling? No more love. Your mother would love you regardless.

[–]TheSeele -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that's totally true.

If a person is only able to love you for the status you have then you have a relationship based only on interest not love.

I believe that there are situations driven by our biology that allow us to feel more attracted to certain types of people. For men: strong, dominant, masculine and holding positions of power to be able to provide the family.

For women: young, beautiful, sweet, delicate, sensual, feminine and especially maternal.

[+]anotherw1n -13 points-12 points-11 points 7 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

The fuck? no. But I understand the fucking burden of manhood, and it is a burden. Have a family some day, have children to support and nurture and protect and you might as well. Fail at those tasks and your mate will love you less. Your offspring will love you less. Society will love you less. It's the fucking job. It isn't slavery. you don't have to produce anything if you don't want to. you can be a fucking bum if you want to. you can spawn a bunch of fatherless offspring and not provide for them if you want to. but don't expect fucking approbation for it.

[–]IG_Karsonova219 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Technically the slaves didn’t HAVE to do anything but they’d be beaten and probably even be killed, if men don’t provide then the public will demonize them calling them deadbeats, get harassed, their family members will disown them, threats, death threats, and the internet. Ha you know the internet won’t pull punches

[–]anotherw1n 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

still not sure why you use slavery/slaves here. Do you feel that men are enslaved? Isnt humanity as a whole "enslaved" in some way? Women bear the burden of producing offspring, Men bear a different burden. And how competently we bear it effects the entire world around us.

[–]IG_Karsonova219 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Because you said men could just deal with being leeched off of but you wouldn’t say hat to slaves. Basically what I’m saying is that slaves had a choice to decline but it would come with horrible repercussions as the same for men who don’t provide and give everything they have except the repercussions are dialed down a lot compared to the beatings slaves were getting

[–]anotherw1n 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

who said anything about being leeched off of. Nothing about that in the OP, the post seemed to be about the lack of emotional parity in relationships between men and women/children/dogs. And i agree with the OP in that the disparity is real. And I THINK that disparity is appropriate to the responsibilities we enjoy as men.

[–]IG_Karsonova219 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Well you see when a man has sex with a condom on and walks away and the women takes the condom and pours the condiments into her vagina so she can get pregnant and get child support checks off of him, I call that leeching but your definition may be different. And I find it hard to believe that you enjoy being there only to pay the bills for a women or child. If you don’t provide child support the mother will despise and the child will guilt trip the fuck out of you, they’ll also show aggression towards you

[–]anotherw1n 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

what. the. fuck. does that have to do with THIS POST!!!!???? seriously. Your leaps of logic stagger the fucking mind.

[–]IG_Karsonova219 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This has a lot to do with the post, the post is saying that men are only loved when they provide whether it’s voluntary or not hence why I used the example of a woman getting pregnant without the consent of the man then drowning him in child support for 18 years

Do you not see the error in your post? Men are born into the burden and HAVE to deal with it.

Slaves are born into more slavery and HAVE to deal with it.

Societies built around men working and dying for a family is socially accepted.

Societies built around slaves working and dying for masters is socially accepted.

Men are told to work to death for the greater good, for their family, wife and society.

Slaves are told to work to death for the greater good, for the nobles, for their masters and superiors.

Only difference is you will say “I would never say to deal with it to slaves”, but will say “men are born with the burden and need to learn to deal with it”.

Now if only we regularly provided love and affection, and weren’t the greatest perpetrators of violence, rape, coercion and collusion in human history, and if we made it even feasible for women and people of color to be providers, and if learned not to be permanently navel-gazing, self-pitying rageaholics who’ve compromised the safety and security of the planet in favor of short-term gains in the inherently violent economic mode we’ve created... this might be a coherent complaint.

I always took the point of rejecting feminism as it currently is to be rooted in the idea that this quoted sentence should become incomprehensible. You belonging to any particular group does not mean your opinions are unwelcome. Your opinions are received and evaluated based on merit. I'm sure that if you made some sort of coherent, sourced argument for your first paragraph then you would get substantive responses.
