Anyone spending thanksgiving alone?

Good post.

Three years ago, a few weeks before Thanksgiving, my ex was acting very aloof very standoffish. On Thanksgiving day, she ignored me and didn't wish me a happy Thanksgiving. I asked her why. She smiled like the Cheshire cat and said, 'I forgot,' and scuttled away.

After stewing for an hour, I went into the living room where she was painting. I tried to make small talk, but she was annoyed. So I straight up asked her what the matter was. Why was she acting the way she was for the past few weeks. She scowled and yelled, 'it's not a good time to talk about it!' I said there is never a good time to talk about it. She was angry for no reason and very defensive. I said we're still married, and she said, 'we're separated!'

All on Thanksgiving day, three years ago.

The last three years have been very hard on me. My world was shattered into a million sharp shards. I have not dated since. We've been no contact mostly. No kids.

The last I heard, she has a boyfriend. I saw a Facebook post with her cuddling him. So, I canceled Facebook.

Today, I'm a much better version of myself, so in a way, her leaving me was a wonderful blessing in disguise.

If I were in your shoes, I would go to the relatives. Alone is really hard for me.

I’ve accepted an invitation from an awkward acquaintance to have thanksgiving at his place with his roommate. Just the three of us.

As alone as it gets. Moved to a city where I know at the best two people. Both loner bachelors. Family lives in another city.

This is going to be hard. My in-laws were the best family ever and I had nine years of family holiday events. Took me a year or two to get into it as I was not really used to a functional family. But her parents loved me and soon I found my way in to the holiday spirit.

This is the first in nine years I wont see Johnny or Karen. Or their kid Reilly and his girl Viv. My in-laws. Their friends and other Family members.

I don't mean to be mean, but I do hope some of them miss me. I know ex-mom will. Serving a plate to my wife's new guy. Some douche who's meeting this family for the first time. Ugh.

Sad holiday for some of us.

Luckily, my aunt is hosting and we are doing a big family thing on thanksgiving. I also have two Friendsgiving events next week.

I am and I'll like it. We're in the divorce process and sharing a house but she's going to visit her sister so I'll have the place to myself. It'll be a relief not having to deal with her. I ordered a couple prepared turkey dinners from a local grocery store: one for me and one for me later. I will enjoy them well. I'll speak to my kids and sibs on the phone so I won't be lonely.

Can always be worse I’ll be spending this thanksgiving in a men’s shelter. I got booted out of my home on a trumped up ex pate CPO and the temporary early gave her my truck. And all of my family is out of state.

I’ll be alone but going to a restaurant I love to be surrounded by friends I’ve made along my journey.
