This is lawyer time! File a counter motion that she purposefully lost her job, you don't have the funds to pay all of the expenses and that she has no intention of getting a job.

My exwife tried that trick in AZ for our divorce. And it didn't work.

Not a lawyer but unless you agreed to the statement in providing full support you are probably off the hook for alimony. Did she just decide to quit or was she fired from her job? If she quit, then that was her decision to stop working and you shouldn't have to support her. Since she had a job recently that shows that she's capable of working. Unless she has suddenly discovered she has some kind of disability the judge should not require you to provide support.

Did you take custody of the step-child or sign anything that said you will provide for the child? If not, then that's on your STBXW to provide for the child. Also if you already had your temporary orders hearing, she would have to file a motion to request support.

My divorce was finalized last Friday (in TX). I was only married 7 months so that played into the decision (I basically won), but my wife quit her job soon after we married, Teacher with a Bachelor degree. When I was explaining the situation to my lawyer, she started laughing and told me before I finished explaining, that the court only cares about the POTENTIAL to earn. That spouses (both sides) quit their job before a divorce, all the time.

The situation for you is not good. Probably too late to try and conceal assets or convert to separate property, your best choice is to also quit your job and claim zero income. Make sure you have documentation on the 'near impossibility' of finding a similar job

My wife is a SAHM but she opted to, she has a masters degree and just has chosen not to work for the past 9 years of our 16 year marriage (I supported this over the years). She does have a moderately successful side hustle (she raked in 38k last year). I too am worried she's going to claim no income.

I am yet again.. WHY this is allowed. She can just up and leave.. and you get fucked in the process.. this is the kind of shit why marriage is so not worth it.. and makes no sense. She left her job.. because she knew you would owe a LOT more money.

The first thing I'd do.. is see if you can take some time off.. a few months.. without pay. Sabbatical. After all.. divorce is insanely stressful. Why should she be the only one. Let all the bills fault.. sell the house.. split that in half.. and then go back to work..
