How do you arrange vacations with custody? I am taking a vacation with 7 year old son which I prefer to go alone, but she is inflexible with her new career as a registered nurse but yet changes her schedule always to suit her and I have to adjust.

I took a cruise by myself after divorce, and it was amazing. NYC to the Caribbean. Take a week or 10 days and do it right. People on cruises are friendly and you'll find people to hang with easily.

I travel almost full time and recommend either Mexico, Colombia, or Brazil based on your location and restricted by short vacations. Mexico is so much more than just Cancun and Cabo. If you're a city type of person than Mexico City cannot be beat with the food, culture, museums, and parks.

You can find some nice oceanfront places on the Atlantic side of Florida. Get something either on or south of Daytona, all the way to the Keys if you want.

Should be some affordable places, even in winter. And if you don't like the oceanfront prices, get an AirBnB that's maybe a block or two away from the beach -- this can cut the price in half, maybe even more, versus oceanfront.

Go to Zion NP and hike the narrows. Go to Yosemite and hike Vernal falls. Rent a jeep to drive to the racetrack in Death valley. I just got done with 7 days at burning man. Definitely a life changing experience…

I am in the PNW but imagine you should have something similar by you. Booked a remodel ed cabin on Airbnb about an hour out from the city in the forest. Close to hiking trails, hot springs, it was awesome. Since been back with my girlfriend.

Bali and Phuket if you want to go overseas. NOT for sex tourism, just great weather, great people, great food, beaches, etc. It's clean safe, and while a long flight very inexpensive once you arrive. I love Phuket because I do BJJ and there are a ton of schools there (also MT kickboxing). I rent a scooter, bike around, train, workout, get massages nearly daily, and enjoy the food. I do NOT date or use the P2P services.

In the USA check out Moeb is you want something more outdoors or adventure based.

But if all you want to do is get away, check the local VRBO's within a 1-4hr drive that are in the middle of nowhere with no people. Just plan to unplugged and reset. Recommend (as much as possible) no TV, no internet, no cellular. Just a mental rest and reset.

Punta Cana, is a blast for about a week when you are single and child free... Also, if you go after the rainy season the beaches are nice.
