You don’t start until there is a court order that tells you to start.

She can request temporary relief, that’s support that gets paid until the final order is in place

If you pay without an order, there is a good chance that will NOT be counted towards your support when the order comes in, and you’ll end up paying twice.

I started paying as soon as I moved out w/o a court order or sensible legal guidance. Ended up paying too much and establishing status quo.

You don't pay her anything until you're ordered to.

Once you file, you'll be ordered to continue paying what you're currently paying. So if you don't want to pay for it during divorce, cancel it before you file. That includes club/gym memberships, lawn services, and even her phone. Once you file and you are paying the mortgage, grocery, car loans, medical insurance, etc etc then you won't need to pay support as long as the basics are being covered.

Her bills will be her problem to solve, not yours. Even if she chooses to not work, her income can be imputed as if she were.

Change your passwords. Move any prized possessions out of the house into storage or family- not in front of her. Have some emergency cash set aside some where. Ask her for both of you to terminate any shared credit cards move to sep accounts. Delve into anything financial. Do you pay the bills car, mort, and util? If you don’t you should make sure it’s happening. So many ways spouses can squirrel cash and not pay the bills. Then 3 months later your in the shit.

Nothing before court order and agree to pay nothing unless forced. Even after the order, appeal and bargain.

DO NOT PAY UNTIL THE COURT MANDATES IT!

I started paying before and then the court mandate came through with back pay needed, unless my ex told them she had already been paid I had to pay again for a second time. You can guess how that went.

Could I know how are you expecting to live with her after divorce? I also know of some cases that you only have to pay child support but depends of the case I guess.

Start paying as soon as you are considered separated. The date of separation it should start so you don’t get backdated amounts accrue. At least the child support amount as it’s easy to calculate usually.
