Everyone's on a journey. I'm not willing to be with people in the middle of specific journeys because I'm through and over them. It's not shallow, it's absolutely healthy and realistic. We don't have to put down everyone on a journey but we also don't have to put up with it and be the more responsible one all the time in a relationship. I don't understand why this is so hard for LVM to grasp. A child understands that.

Yessss!! Also being financially challenged is usually a clear sign of several things being off (addictions, can’t keep a job, lazy etc.), it’s not just the money aspect of it 🚩🚩🚩

My peers insist I'm an awful shallow person for expecting an adult man to have a career and vehicle (like myself - working since 12, own two cars at 24).

My father is constantly ashamed and amused about the current dating scene. He always talks about how boys of his generation would focus on purchasing or repairing a car before they could legally drive. Picking up odd jobs or trades as young teenagers.

Even though I lived in a rural community with no public transport and an abundance of trades/horticultural jobs, the average dude is a jobless penniless bloke that needs you to ferry him round like he's your child. Apparently they're using covid as an excuse for unemployment, despite horticulture booming.

Dumped a guy last year when I looked him up in Casenet (at my father's urging...Dad is a lawyer) in his home state and found out he had a long string of bankruptcies and credit problems that had gone to court...and so had his old man. We had only gone out a few times, but I was all "see ya later" after doing that digging.
