I was 18 years old going downtown. There was a lot of people at a bus stop where I was waiting. Once a bus arrived everyone lined up to get in. A guy behind me reached out and grabbed my ass. I turned around and smacked him in his face just like this girl in the video. I was so outraged I didn’t even consider consequences that could’ve happened. He was so shocked he just stood there looking embarrassed and confused. Didn’t even get on the bus cause he was so ashamed. I still remember this episode to this day. True story

If this ever happens to you, pull the emergency bar/coil at the side and hopefully security can detain them.

While I think anyone would be in the right for hitting back, I would be concerned for your safety in escalating it physically. I'd rather give the guy a record than a slap.

What I do, especially if public transportation is full of people, at unwanted contact I pretend to trip and either step on their feet a bunch of times until they move or go for a full body slam. With the situation in the video, I would have just tripped behind and to the left and let myself fall onto the guy with the left elbow out. My defense would be "I was startled". He legit could have startled her and she could have fallen since she's wearing heels in a moving train. If someone's leaning on me I start leaning back and see if I can slowly, but forcefully shove them backwards (which is possible since people are off balance in public transportation). With an "oops sorry" lol. If you're standing in a crowd, it's also good to take up as much space as you can and basically be restless like a child and now and then make an unexpected jerking motion with your elbows, people will try to move away from you. No drama, say "I have a condition" if someone calls you out. I found that lifting weights in terms of taking up space is really important too, you end up weighing more then it looks like you weigh and if you need to shove against someone, they will feel it.

Whether it’s a social experiment or not, I’ve lived in NYC and took the trains everywhere, shit like this DID happen. Hell, I was one of these froggy women. Because you have to be. I’ve had to cuss out and push dudes on the train who got disrespectful and touched me. It’s scary because you never know, but the rage takes over (and I always carried something so I felt a bit more protected). Glad there were sane responses, a lot of times people just stay quiet and pretend nothing is happening.
