A former therapist of mine once told me: "People judge themselves by their intent. Others judge them by their actions." This has been a theme in a few of my relationships, and men who pat themselves on the back for intent are not worth sticking with.

I believe truly good intentions will almost always lead to good actions in HV people. People saying they had good intentions, but their actions don't reflect it, are LV manipulators who hide behind an excuse.

Example: a HV partner listens, knows your preferences, what makes you happy. If they intend to throw you a great birthday party, they will follow through and succeed.

A LV partner will know the expectations of being a good partner and wants to be viewed as such to receive the perks, but is not willing to actually put in the effort. They will promise they'll throw you a great birthday party, but invite the wrong people, create a crappy playlist with music you hate, and get a gift you dislike. If you say anything about it, you'll be hit with 100 excuses and they'll likely call you ungrateful for raising the issue. Because your needs were never their priority. Their need to be viewed as a great partner were the priority.

Mind you if his actions are good, but he can't muster up the courage to use his words too- that's a another 🚩He might be prepping for ditching you and saying something like "well, I never said I... blah-blah".

Actions and words should match, no other way.
