I work on the technical side of the entertainment industry and it is common for men to hire women who they are related to, dating, or want to sleep with.

And if these women do not succeed in their jobs because they lacked the prerequisite education or experience then their failure is held up as an example of why women shouldn't be hired.

However, this is only an example of why you shouldn't hire unqualified people or engage in nepotism. If a qualified woman had been hired then there would never have been an issue.

First, I had a successful career in the performing arts. This was before Weinstein and METOO.

I NOPED THE FUCK OUT OF LOS ANGELES SO FAST after establishing a strong career in my home country. I could tell their was darkness and submission that was required to advance your career.

I left that career and retrained in IT.

Same problem. Scrotey scrotes from dumbfuck nerdville thinking their position of power demands you submit sexually to them.

I can't articulate how this completely destroys your mental health. Nothing reminds you that - to them - you are simply a hole-to-fuck. Your value depends entirely on this.

Doesn't matter if you just cured cancer. Your vagina means your only value is your ability to give man pleasure or a sense of power.

I can't be in an office environment anymore without have panic attacks. Knowing that how hard you work, the value and professionalism you bring to your job has ZERO value.

I can't go back to performing arts and LOATHE myself for all the hard work I put into establishing my critically acclaimed career - only to have to let it go and re-train.

The worst part? You can't discuss the gap in your resume to you new employees "Oh my boss was a sexist pig who wanted me to touch his peen in order to progress to the next level of my career". You can't reveal this. You are silenced. YOU will be seen as the trouble maker.

If anyone has experienced this... please share resources/ stories. I'm fucking broken. I need to feel less alone.

Having a woman as a boss and working in a mostly female office has been fantastic. The few men that work there range from VERY HVM to a break-even value man (jury’s out on him so far).

She understands how trauma and mental illness burden women in a different way than men, her and the HVM (they’re the leadership team) protect the well being of their employees both personally and professionally, she’s a strong advocate of boundaries, self care, and independence...this is the longest in my adult life I’ve held down a job and it is entirely thanks to the leadership.

I invest in my workplace because they have invested in me. No male-dominated or pickmeisha dominated workplace has ever come close to them.
