Fully secure women have to be single. There’s really no other option. Men don’t want women who they don’t have some kind of upper hand over. They need to feel better than us at something or if they know they aren’t, they need to feel like they’re conquering a Top Shelf Woman and bringing her down a peg (or several). I will never forget meeting an attractive medical professional who had licensure and research done in her name, but legally changed her name at age 50 for a first time marriage to some unremarkable man. That’s ultimately what it takes to be with men in their current form.

They only accept you being beautiful, if they can feel intellectually superior.

They only accept your intellectual superiority if they can be The Funny One, or exploit it for their benefit (i.e. trick you into thinking they’re too stupid to handle certain responsibilities). Also, if you aren’t too beautiful that it can be intimidating.

They can only accept that you’re naturally quick-witted and funny if you earn less than they do.

They can only accept you being a breadwinner or highly ambitious and successful if they know you have low self-esteem, or that some part of you needs their presence in your life in order to feel validated.

They can only accept that you’re into sports*, if you’re willing to sit and let them soapbox and mansplain common knowledge things.

*cars, comic books, video games, other “man” hobbies

They will only accept your confidence and charm if you’re willing to turn it down (or off) in order to accommodate their feelings of insecurity at any given moment.

They will only accept you being a Total Package if they believe you don’t know you are one.

This is true for losing friendships and family members too. It isn’t fun but there’s a lot more peace in knowing the few people you have are true to you.

We women are brainwashed from birth to lack confidence, to make ourselves “smaller”, to be “shy”, “gentle” since these traits are desirable to men. I used to buy into this bullshit as a teen. Never again.

The older I get the more I notice the pattern of men trying to get me down, especially when I’ve proven I know more about a subject than them. I’m doing my PhD and some my male cohorts try to explain to me the most basic shit I learned years ago. Always questioning me, trying to lecture. Asshole, If I have doubts (because I can’t know everything) I’ll consult a textbook not you!
