You need to leave asap. Are you 18? You can get financial aid / take out loans for college. This is not ok and nothing is worth staying there if you can get out. I agree education is very important but it’s not worth you physical & mental health.

I’ve come onto my throwaway to share this. I know what you are going through. When I was 12 I found a camera my dad hid underneath a drawer. He had been hiding this camera in a pile of clothes to secretly record me and my siblings in the bathroom. Please - cut this piece of crap off as soon as you are able to. I’m so so sorry you are going through this.

ETA; I’ve never shared this with anyone. I feel relieved to get it out there, especially into a group of women I know will support and encourage me to heal.

This was my life from 14-22. It did in fact escalate. My mom was also groomed to be blind to my stepdad’s behavior. To make matters worse, when I moved to another city for a year and then returned while my mom was sick, he got worse. He started coming into my room at night and trying to touch me when I was sleeping. You need to get out NOW. It’s been 14 years and I still have CPTSD symptoms.

The first paragraph alone almost made me fire my phone across the room in immediate disgust. LVM/NVM fathers absolutely do not see women or girls as human beings. They objectify their own daughters. Every woman and girl is fair game to these pedo creeps.

As much as you need to save money for school, your safety is more important right now. Get a female roommate, preferably a friend. I have no idea how old you are, but if you're in highschool still, talk to a school counselor (make sure she's a woman) and she'll make sure to connect you with resources. If you're out of highschool, contact your local women's shelter organization. They often offer services outside of transition houses, or could hook you up with subsidized (cheap) housing and counseling. Sorry your sperm donor is such a disgusting pig. No one deserves to live with this.

Listen, I moved out because of my stepfather when I was 17. That was exactly 3 days after the abuse started. I had $1,000 to my name. I worked two jobs and graduated college. Are you in a better position than I was? If so, you have no excuses. He is definitely going to do something worse to you. It’s just a matter of time. Please get out ASAP. A life free from abuse with student loans is infinitely better than one with abuse and without loans. Your dad is not just a LVM. He is a predator and his behavior will only get worse.
