Recently, I've been getting super into my hobbies. I've been reading a book a week, have been following a new exercise routine and meal plan, and have been working on a novel all while working full-time--and I just got a raise, too!

All in all, I've been doing great...but then, I ran into a former classmate who I have a lot in common with, and found out he was recently single. I would run into him and chat maybe once or twice a month for the past few months, and developed a small crush...but that crush totally killed my productivity.

I stopped thinking about the story and dialogue for my novel. My workouts were done in poorer form and took longer to complete because I was dragging my feet. I spent less time preparing meals and had to go without lunch once or twice. Haven't read a book in a month. With all these hobbies on hold, what was I doing with my spare time?

I was reading dating advice, body language advice to see if it was possible that he liked me, and eagerly waiting for him to send me a message over my only remaining social media...LinkedIn (pathetic, I know). Why LinkedIn?

Because the last time we talked (a month ago) he said he'd invite me to lunch with his coworkers over LinkedIn since I don't have FB Messenger. He seemed really enthusiastic and his tone was very noticeably flirty, but he didn't even ask for my phone number. And it's been nothing, absolute silence. He hasn't even viewed my profile or been active on LinkedIn all month! And yet, I still hoped!

I was feeling crappy about it, but then I realized it wasn't the lack of interaction that made me feel crappy--it was the fact that I was more sedentary, not as creatively active, and was spending way too much damn time on my phone. So I finally blocked him on LinkedIn, and I'm going back to my regularly scheduled programming! If he wanted to talk to me, he'd ask for my phone number--there's really nothing stopping him.

Anyone experience anything similar, and have ways to get around the "crush slump" faster??
