When my best friend was going through a divorce, her sister was going through one too. They moved in together. They both tried online dating. The amount of men who would be talking to BOTH of them and claiming they wanted a serious relationship was unreal.

Men would tell on of them, completely unprompted, you're the only woman I talk to on here, it's so hard to find someone. And then text the EXACT same thing to the other sister! They could have just said nothing or honestly said they talk to a few people on the app. It wouldn't be a big deal. But instead they went out of their way to lie about it.

That's why he thought he replied to you. He replied to someone else, and there's so many he can't even keep them straight.

I don't mind coffee/drink dates, as I find dinners uncomfortable, if I'm not even sure of the guy myself or meeting for the first time.

But I think it's definitely a red flag he suggested a coffee place nearby his place - he said he's free, so why doesn't he ask you where you would like to go first? He should choose a place that is convenient for YOU or just the nicest place available, where you could take a nice walk afterwards or something like that.

NOT the coffee place where he can just leave his door 5 minutes beforehand with no effort, go back home without having too much time wasted if he's not into it - or trying to make you go back to his place afterwards.
