I just started this job 2 weeks ago and it's been so much fun so far. Most of my colleagues seem HVM who work hard and are very devoted to their wives, they are really doing the most for their spouses. They're also very private and thus far nobody asked me about my relationship status, which usually happens to me on first days at new work places. So that’s the culture.

My boss always seemed less HVM than my team mates but he’s also very private, elegant & family oriented too: he married pretty young and bought a house for him and his girl when he was 22, has 2 kids he makes a LOT of sacrifices for. Never heard him talking about his wife though. I'm telling you this for background.

When I had the job interview I kinda picked up a flirty vibe but later I dismissed that suspicion because we never interacted again in that manner & his instagram is full of his wife and kids. And again he's really private and to himself, pretty sophisticated and always keeps things professional.

... Until yesterday? We had to go to a client and it was a 30min drive. So we're in his car just talking work things when he suddenly drops he temporarily moved back in with his parents because things aren't working with his wife. I kept my answers short, mumbling generic stuff like 'oh that sucks'... But he kept the oversharing going. Telling me this conflict has been going on for over a year, he mentioned something about text messages from a year ago (don't know if it were hers or his, doesn't matter either, i didn't ask questions because I wanted the convo to stop) and that things are very deep rooted.

[ETA: i have acces to his agenda and he has a lot of dinners with other couples planned this week. I’m assuming they’re double dates and maybe he was just straight making shit up]

Immediately after he was done talking about it he asks me if I have a boyfriend. I replied no. Then he was like 'do you want one?' again I said no. Then he tried to bond with me over us having very similar backgrounds (children of business owners).

I don't know guys. My friends are like 'oh he probably had to get something off his chest' but we really weren't vibing on that level, like this was reaallly sudden. And pretty uncalled for imo. Also very out of character.

Am I reading into things too much?

ETA2: Maybe this is irrelevant information but I felt kinda attracted to him at the job interview. But as soon as I got the job I was like 'no way' bc I don't shit where I eat, never have. And finding out he has a whole family intensified the 'no way' feeling. BUT in that car I noticed that my mind and body are NOT on the same level. I had the butterfly thing for a moment and I was like wtf NO. I do feel like I have it under control lol but it could be the reason I'm overanalyzing this situation?

Any advice on how to kill attraction for someone?
