I’m going back to school next semester so I can get another degree that will help me pursue my dream job as a park ranger! I reached out to an organization that volunteers at a local national historic site in my town owned and operated by the National Park Service, and I’m going to research other opportunities to bulk up my resume. I’m 30 now and this is something I’ve secretly wanted to do since I was in my early 20s, but I never wanted to admit it for various reasons, one of which being that I knew my mother wouldn’t approve. She’s a PhD and looks down on careers that she doesn’t think are intellectual or impressive. But I’ve gotten to the point where I literally don’t care about garnering her approval or meeting her standards.

Ultimately I’m going to move back to my birth state of Montana, where my entire extended family on my mom’s side still lives. Every time I’ve visited it just… feels like home. I’m going to conquer my eating disorder and eat nutritional meals and get strong. I’ve been making progress on this! I’m going to get a small house someday, hopefully in the woods, and I’ll definitely have cats. And I’m going to have a baby or two eventually. I know motherhood isn’t for everyone but it’s something I’ve always felt a calling to. I’ll gladly do it alone if I never encounter the right HVM. I think more of us should take advantage of the perks of our sex and have kids without men, since men are continuously proving themselves to be such actual scrotes. And I’m bi so I’m totally open to meeting a HVW!

My abusive ex broke me down but I’m rebuilding and I’ll be stronger for it. He was a wake-up call. I only have this one life and I want to do it my way. And so what if it took me til 30 to find my way? If I live to be 100 that means I still have 70 years left to live. It’s never too late to begin the rest of your life.

I'm 80% there (still taking my time for a baby) and 15 years ago I was destined to work in a factory or at best as a very cheaply paid assistant to an asshole, living in an misogynistic society, in a developing country, with my super abusive family.

Just thinking about how I escaped all this feels so damn good!

I love your attitude towards having kids: you know you want it and you plan to do it one way or another. I know so many women who really want children but are so passive about it and don’t do anything to make it happen/actively reduce their own chances of it happening. It’s so sad. I was in your shoes in 2016 like ‘I’m gonna have a baby one way or another within the next 2-4yr’. Had my first in 2019. It’s such a major part of life if it’s something you want, you can’t afford to sit back and passively hope it comes your way! You go get that baby! 🧡
