I went out on one date with a guy. We set up a date for the next week. During the interval, he told me he had a date set up with another woman he’d been talking to who “really likes him” but he’d cancel it if it made me uncomfortable. I told him: “Go for it. I had a guy send me a screenshot of a conversation he was having with another girl while we were trying to figure out what escape room to do for our date. It was meant* to “show me” how much he appreciated how dynamic and engaging our conversation was compared to the dual sided low effort exchange with her. It was really off-putting and I ended up ghosting him because I ultimately couldn’t shake the feeling that he’d have no qualms talking shit about me if he was already complaining about someone else.

I think mentioning you have another date with someone else is tacky and most likely a manipulative tactic. It’s one thing if a guy has a busy schedule and another to directly mention he is dating other women to you. He wants you to become competitive and feel more vulnerable and see him as a prize.

I would say “oh how nice, I’m doing the same as well. May the best man win” with a wink 😘

There seems to be a consensus that a guy divulging this shows a lack of consideration for his date, but how should a woman approach "plate-spinning"/ dating multiple people which is FDS approved? Should we avoid being clear with men that we are seeing other people? When should we bring up that a commitment from them is necessary for us not to. TBH a post on this would be appreciated. If a guy I was on a date with told me something like that, without my prompting, my response would be so snarky. Along the lines of “didn’t ask,” or “give me a minute to find the person who asked you.”

Isn’t plate spinning the assumption in early dating? I have always taken a Don’t Ask; Don’t Tell approach. If they ask, I’ll answer respectfully and politely, and I hope I receive the same courtesy.

He did this to me and was still on the dating app, so I didn’t want to use my brain and energy to figure out how much he’s interested me. Rather I did the same. I just went for multiple dates and told him I met some guy friends.
