My narc ex "gifted" me a toy ring from one if these trashy vending machines and gave it to me as a "romantic gesture". When I threw it away laughing (I couldn't even take that seriously) he acted so hurt and said that it felt to him as if I was just valued money. It doesn't deserve to be praised into heaven, but it certainly doesn't need to be put down like this. We don't have enough context for that. Questions are unanswered like: Is she hoping for a real one soon? How soon? Are there any valid reasons the real ring is not there yet? If he wanted to, he would - but maybe the relationship or their life isn't yet the way they'd want it to be for marriage. We like to assume the worst in people, but we can't read a level of scrotation here purely based on a video of someone's boyfriend being crafty.
