Has anyone else come across men that are actually aware of all their LVM behavior and initially try to play off the wounded victim who's trying to better themselves?

An ex was like that and I was wondering if that's something common? During the getting to know each other stage he was very open and vulnerable about his problems in life and was very self-aware of his mental health issues etc. Even talked about being in therapy and how it was helpful. But later on it turned into the tired old 'Oh, therapy/meds didn't work for me, and I know my issues but there's just nothing anyone can do about them so I've just learnt to live with them'. And then that becomes an excuse for every sort of shitty and LV trait they possess.

Also, most men who are "damaged" like that want a Mommy-McBang-Maid to "fix" them aka coddle them and their insecurities and inadequacies, whilst carrying all the emotional labor for both. And they get to play the 'I can be who I am with you because you get me' card which is just scrote for 'Yeah, I'm not willing to work on my issues and will just drag you through an emotional hell with me'. Which is why they try to target emotionally challenged or insecure women who'll lap up all that apparent vulnerability in an attempt to "save" them.

I was lucky enough to be able to see through that bullshit and noped the hell out of that quicksand of self-pity. I just hope more women don't fall prey to trainwrecks like that.
