As a tall Amazonian woman, I can’t relate to being “picked up like a child”, but everything else sounds nice.

Bwahaha my first thought was “I’m gonna need to find a way bigger/stronger man if I want someone picking my tall ass up”. 😂😂😂

As a tall Amazonian woman,
This is how I'm going to answer questions from here on out
[–]PasdepromessesFDS Disciple53 points54 points55 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I’m a tall Amazonian woman as well and the secret is in the 6’6 ft kind of guys.
Fortunately, there’s plenty of those where I live, but a buff 6’3 one will do the trick too.

Now that I think about it, very tall men aren’t really common here. Most are about 5’10” ish. Not short but not noticeably tall. And the rare tall men I have known prefer petite women. Ive only known one tall man to openly express preference for tall women (he was about 6’4” and his wife 6’).

I can imagine that makes it more difficult. I’m 5’9 and a half and I’m not even one of the tallest ones in my friend group. Very average where I live. But all the men are tall too. I think being picked up as a tall women isn’t a problem if the men are quite tall or at least work out a bit.

Are you Dutch?
[–]PasdepromessesFDS Disciple13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yes, partly☺️
[–]MotherofvampiresFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ah that makes sense. The Dutch are the tallest people in the world 👍
[–]PasdepromessesFDS Disciple9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Haha true, but I met some very tall men from other countries too! And I even got picked up by buff shorter men. So go for the ones who can handle you and are proud to be by your side! And never lose the heels 👠!!!
[–]AnniaTFDS Disciple4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've also observed the same. Most tall men I knew always went for petite women. I even had a 2 meter friend that openly said he preferred petite short girls lol
I'm taller than the average women in my country and it was always hard to find men that were taller than me and willing to date tall women like me at the same time lol

I’d LOVE a 6’3 man. Then I can feel more confident wearing heels on a date 👠
[–]KetoKittenAroundFDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ha! I’m 5’10 and yeah... no one is picking me up like a child...
[–]apple_coresFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How tall are you? I’m 5’9 and my 6’3 ex and 6’6 have all picked me up and carried me. One even took me to bed when I fell asleep on the couch and that’s was really sweet.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lollll same. Much too tall.
[–]BrownEyed-SusanFDS Newbie44 points45 points46 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Too fat to be picked up but this sounds lovely all the same.
[–]MomcellaFDS Newbie20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well damn. One time I fell asleep on the couch & felt too exhausted to get up (I have a disorder which gives me extreme fatigue). I was in the fetal position cause I was freezing. The ex got up to check on me & walked back to the bedroom. I asked the next morning why he didn't at least throw a blanket on me? All I got was a blank stare.

Sorry, I don’t want to be a bubble burster but shouldn’t this be the bare minimum?
He’s working from home, she does long shifts at the hospital. Dinner and a foot rub is nice, but hardly extraordinary.
The bar continues to rest solidly on the floor.
[–]PartypuppersFDS Apprentice56 points57 points58 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So, consider this a lack of imagination on my part, what are some HV traits/ behaviours that would be considered over and above the 'bare minimum'? Please help me raise my expectations and standards lol.
[–]beautysubthrowwFDS Newbie45 points46 points47 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Bare minimum = doing most of the chores, making dinner, listening to her day
Above and beyond = making her favorite foods, carrying her to bed (imo the bf did go above the bare minimum here), planning something fun for the weekends to help her destress
The way I think about is, if the genders were reversed would anyone praise the woman? A girlfriend/wife would be expected to do chores and have dinner ready if their male partner works long hours hence why a man doing the same thing isn't really praiseworthy.
[–]HazyOdellFDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wow, you're right it would be expected from us. I guess because I'm so conditioned I thought he was going above and beyond.
[–]PartypuppersFDS Apprentice2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's fair enough! Thanks for explaining.
[–]even_thrillerFDS Apprentice1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I found the carrying thing cute since my own partner does it but to add examples that /u/beautysubthroww tossed out that could help her destress: a full on massage, running a bath with candles and music, planning and cooking meals for the entire week for her, etc. I think doing the little things so that you don't even have to think about them and they're already done is definitely going above and beyond.

Yeah FDS has some work to do with raising standards.
My husband is home with the kids, does all the domestic work, and takes my glasses off when I fall asleep watching TV. I appreciate him so much, but it’s never occurred to me to write about it.
[–]mermaid-babeFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Really the only odd thing for me is the foot rub. I do not want anyone touching my feet anyway
[–]even_thrillerFDS Apprentice27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yep, this is bare minimum. My partner will pick me up often and carry me elsewhere because he gets impatient (its cute though and I don't know, I find it fun to get piggy back rides, lol). This is someone basically doing things a partner should be doing and I don't see how this is high value.
[–]AlybankFDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well to be fair he was also working, even if it was at home. Reverse the genders and I don’t think it would be expected since he was also working Also I feel like the lunch thing is above and beyond(even if they didn’t work)
[–]askmeifilikeanalFDS Newbie6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Is this that uncommon? My current boyfriend has moved me to the bed when I fell asleep in a chair and my ex did as well. I never thought it was out of the ordinary
