Sometimes these memes hit too close to home. I can't overemphasize how little they care about what you've done or how you feel. This is what living with a solipsistic being is like. If what you're doing is out of sight, out of mind, it's as if it never happened at all.

Your spare time = theirs to fill up with whatever pointless bullshit they'd like
I'm so glad you're finished another 50 hour work week honey, we've got dinner plans with my annoying harpy cunt friends that I don't even like but I need to keep my hand in the constant competition between us, then tomorrow we'll have brunch and go shopping (you'll pay for both), then dinner again with my parents (they'll berate you about marriage and kids while I act sad and pouty), then Sunday I've planned 18 hours of chores for you which you should be able to fit in before our monthly sex! Don't expect anything other than starfish from me tho, my part time job was soooo draining this week don't even get me started... actually, you know what? On second thought sit down, I need to vent. So, this new girl started and the office hot guy has been giving more attention to her and it's bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
I just gave myself PTSD with this post

That’s because what’s done is done, they only care about what you are yet to do for them. Anything done 15 or more seconds ago before they said “thanks” might as well have never happened.
[–]KTKM8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
thay said “thanks”
lol
[–]Mad_King6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
They only care about what you are yet to do for them = they are not only care about you, they are there simply purely for their own well being instead of a mutual life form. This is true and this means that they are there for a reason(money) and as long as reason over they ll be gone. Thats it.

If a guy loses his job for any extended period of time, she’s out of there. Male unemployment = divorce. You can be a man slave around the house but that’s not enough.
[–]GrandYam_HomeRun0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And if she does stay you will hear about that period of time for the rest of your life.

Totally. My brother in law is in a very specific high paying industry that relies on research grants. He makes about $250k a year and has for 17.5 of the past 18 years since he graduated from grad school. My sister brings up the 6 months he was unemployed in 2009 fairly regularly. He used the 6 months to regain his triathlete level fitness level.

no one should work 12hrs/day
[–]BonelessSkinless56 points57 points58 points 7 years ago (41 children) | Copy Link
Lol if the economy wasn't a joke then thay would be nice but for normal people you have to work 12 hours a day sometimes also on your 2 measly days off as well just to get that money which is more important than life. You give your life and body for this shit. Gotta get the most of it you can. We all need more money, we need it so bad, so off to another grueling, painful horrible 12 hour session. Yay life.
I really hate people that say money doesn't bring happiness. I truly do. When I'm on the 11th hour and I'm so drained and sad and tired and know I'm not going home to anything great and won't be getting sex either it's like I ponder killing myself several times a day. I'm pretty sure I would be really happy not having to feel that drain, pain and exhaustion.
I don't want suffer and struggle and grind anymore. And people assure me so much "oh money has a certain point where it loses impact and you plateau, you really won't be any happier, you won't be happy" and all this other stupid BULLSHIT they pull out of their ass. Give me the millions first then let me decide if I need to cry in my fully paid for everything.
I just keep working the hours until the work is done and do it again the next day. Again and again while I hate myself with each passing hour of torture. I can see why so many men kill themselves... it seems liberating. Money doesn't bring happiness my fucking ass.
[–]Scheinwelt29 points30 points31 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Don't hate me for saying this, but money never gave me happiness. I guess it depends on the person. All I know is that during my 50 years of life, the happiest I ever was was when I had $40 to my name, single and living simply. Several times in my life I worked my ass off for a year then took a year off while living on $1000 a month.
We need so little to live. A little food, shelter and a passion in life. During my years off of work I lived simply and enjoyed volunteering my time a few days a week. It was heaven.
But, to each their own. If your passion is expensive, you will be trapped by money.
[–]ghosttongues25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think a lot of younger guys don't know how to be happy without money. It's something you have to figure out. Give up the things in your life that you don't need. In awhile you'll find that worrying about money makes you more unhappy that not having money. And no one wants to hear this either, but, you have to make sacrifices. You can't have everything you want and expect to not have to work for it. And the more junk you own, the more it owns you. High paying, white collar jobs may seem appealing when you're working at a factory or a fast food place, or Walmart. But with those kind of jobs, there's never a day off and you pay for your comforts with every ounce of your dignity.
[–]Dat_Azz_Spanker1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Man you are so right. I have worked and toiled for years to reach the $100,000 grand a year white color job. Every day is pride swallowing assault on my soul. I am considered the subject matter expert in my field at this office. Management asks me a question, I give them the answer, they don't like it so they call the mothership and get the same answer. They come back to me and tell me to figure out a way around the rules. It just sucks and I have been thinking long and hard about just saying fuck it and going back to some type menial work.
[–]ghosttongues1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm a "maintenance" worker at a small walmart in a small town. I've been considered for management in the past, but anyone with a pulse gets that consideration. I've been with the consultant long enough to make a decent wage, enough to get by if I'm careful and disciplined. No one wants my job (emptying trash, sweeping floors, cleaning toilets), so it's secure. No one cares what I think. No one asks, no one makes conversation. I own my universe.
[–]WanderlustYouth8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Money can NEVER give you happiness, nothing can because happiness is fleeting emotion, and like all emotions stem from within in you. A person who tries to look for happiness outwardly can never be happy at all, and are doomed to constantly strive for a fleeting emotion. At the best the only thing we can truly achieve is being content.

[–]ogrelin0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is a fair point, but also consider that we are all different and what made you happy while living in a relatively small allowance might not be equally applicable for other folks with other priorities.

If your passion is expensive, you will be trapped by money.
This sounded so oriental-like, but it is quite true.
Indeed, if you are attached to material things you will have to work hard the rest of your life.

Money doesn't bring happiness.
Jk jk. The ones who said that, are the same people who never know a single bit of struggle in their lives. I hate this statement, too.
But my point is : Money does not bring happiness to uncreative people. Most people who are born in high standards, do not know a shit about themselves, thus they have nothing to do really, and drown in some sort of depression state where nothing makes them fullfilled, because they already knew everything possible on Earth since childhood.
In my opinion, they are a lot of creative use of "free" money if it was possible, so in a way : money is not happiness, money is freedom of choice and over all freedom of trial and error. This is what we miss so much in this damned society, we have to walk straight whatever happens, and we can not spare time for things that matter to us, because these things do not earn us a dime.
Sad.
I am sure, if I was given a million, I would not even do extravagant stuff like yacht, escorts and heroine, I would just be happy enough to afford rent and food for some years or decades, without having to grind for it, occasionally going to school again, having a garage, developing some cool skills, preparing quietly for what happens when the million is gone. This kind of preparation would be much better as what we get as children and students going to school while we don't even know yet what drives us.
Money is freedom and also safety. Something reliable that keeps your needs met without thinking much of it. Without having the mind busy, thinking about how to make ends meet.
Overlacking money is really a hell on earth and does not leave room for improvement. There is a book about this topic if you're interested : it is called "Scarcity", written by Sendhil Mullainathan and Eldar Shafir.
Good luck to you sir, I hope your hard work will bring in the cash you need and deserve, cheers.
PS : Are you living in USA? I am born in France and worked in different European countries, and I got myself 40hrs/week contracts mostly. I know some jobs in USA are not paying enough at all, that's shame.
[–]CommanderHeMan8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Americans get screwed over under the guise of “freedom”. 0 paid holidays, 60 hour work weeks, sky high insurance for everything.
You know they have data caps for home internet in America?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Go on.........
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
They have them in Canada and Australia too and probably New Zealand. I've never seen a data cap here in the UK but where i grew up we actually had some of the best internet in the country and we were one of the first to get cable TV.
[–]CommanderHeMan0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I’m pretty sure they’ve tried to introduce them, or penalise people under “fair use” for using “more data than is reasonable”. But I’ve never had anything but unlimited internet at home.
I was one of the first in my high school to get broadband.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Certainly they have done that on mobile contracts. I knew someone who had an old unlimited t-mobile plan (i think it was t-mobile) for his ipad and he used to watch films on it. One night they throttled him down to a crawl and told him he was using to much data. I have used a lot of data on BT and Virgin Media and no one has ever throttled me as far as i'm aware.
I was too. They rolled out 256k Blueyonder broadband in my area in 2001. It was night and day. I had quite a little cottage industry getting stuff for people at school and burning it to CD-RW for them.
[–]CommanderHeMan0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh yeah my mobile cap is 30gb and costs £17 a month.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe you should actually live here before you make ignorant statements
[–]LuciusAelius2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You may have a different experience, but the data does show a plateau at around 30k/year. Your personal experience is worth exploring, but you can't argue with data.
You can't argue with data, except you're giving a false number.
The most common figure is $75k/year, some articles suggest more than 100k/year
[–]NeverNeverLandIsNow1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Some of the best times of my life I was pretty much broke, I know it is hard to see when you are struggling sometimes but money doesn't bring happiness, why do you have to work 12 hours a day?
[–]jbslol1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Really the key is to be in a profession you enjoy. Then the hours don’t matter as much. I work 50-55 hours a week and it sucks sometimes but I’m saving a lot and building a business that will hopefully one day free me from this workload.
[–]CerebralAbrasion1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Money won't make you happy; numbers on your bank statement, green in your hand, a shiny object that's yours, who cares. It's the relief from this kind of suffering that brings happiness. And if you want my advice, the way you'll change your situation is when you say to yourself you absolutely refuse to do this anymore. You could be exiled to a cabin in the middle of nowhere, thrown in prison (which is probably nicer than your job), you don't care, no one will make you do this shit anymore. Life is too short man, escape and enjoy it.

But Trump said he'd make the best deals and bring ALL the jobs back. He also said we are at our lowest unemployment ever, and the economy is better than ever too. Also, Mexico is paying for a wall. So if you're not doing well, maybe use those bootstraps.

Yeah we work 40 hours a week in Europe. That’s definitely not 12 hours a day, it’s 8, and that’s more than enough for a single person to live off.
[–]gwanington1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not and you aren't counting the time taken to commute to work and back. It takes over your entire life even if your at work for 8 hours a day which is becoming rare
[–]CommanderHeMan1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Only if you let it.
Your choice dude.
You can make all the “I don’t have time”, “I have to commute” etc excuses you want. There’s 168 hours in a week.
And 40 hours a week most certainly is enough for a single person to live off. I live off 25 hours a week.
[+][deleted] 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was regularly working 72 hours a week and sometimes 84 hours a week in one of my last jobs. It was one thing when i was 23-24 i couldn't do it now though.
[–]U-945 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hahahaha tell the film industry. Did it for 4 years. You actually get in conversations where people start boasting over each other. "We used to do minimum 17hrs a day on the last Tarantino movie!", "Oh yeah? I did a month of 100 hour weeks for the history channel."
It's been a couple years and I still haven't been paid my overtime hours for a CBS pilot.
Of course if you do what you love, it doesn't feel like work. But 90% of TV & Film production is standing around.
[–]Scheinwelt5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That used to be the case before women wanted equal rights in the workplace. Of course, once they got them, they decided it was better to just stay home and watch soap operas. So... the man had to take up the slack and work for 2 people.
[–]qantuum-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
that sucks
I work 12 hours often in my current job. I do 4 days a week though. Saves me a commute as its a 60 mile round trip to work for me.
I used to work 12-13 hours in one of my last jobs. In some ways it was exhausting and demoralising but the traffic where i live in rush hour is insane and i used to avoid the rush hour traffic and to be honest i used to take it easy 4 hours a day because the boss wasn't there.
[–]EndlessPatriotism1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have, it want because I had to buy because I figure since I have the energy why not make the money? I don't want to work the minimum and then need help from someone else like most of those birch ass millennials but instead I want to work as much as I can and make as much as I can so i can retire early. I have very little in my bank account because I like investing in gold and silver.
[–]squiddy_s550gt0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]JamesAGivitis880 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why not? 4 12 hour days a week sounds baller. You only work 4 days a week and you get 8 hours of OT. My job used to do 4 10 hr days and one 8, I miss that, but 5 8 hr days is ok too, just miss the OT.
[+][deleted] 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
That's why i do nights. The bosses aren't around we do all our work in half the time and chill out. No one gives a fuck. Guys on the production line have their phones for entertainment. No one comes in the maintenance shop. If they want something then they radio me.
[–]the_devils_own_010 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its only about what you can do for them in the moment not what you have done in the past or will do in the future. So fools do all they can to make the wife happy thinking it will help them out on the future and thats why it hurts them so much when the divorce finally happens.
Women see men as expendable if they dont have you they figure they can get someone else. If you have value in yourself dont waste it on a long term relationship.

Sort of, to elaborate it's:
"Suckers. Idolizing. Mediocre. Pussy"
S.I.M.P.
Don't let a girl with some plain name make you her beta bitch slave while stringing you along on a carrot for sex once every 4 months while she has "girls nights" and goes out drinking and gets concussions on the weekends and has that weird black friend that she swears nothing is happening with and then you catch them acting shady when you get back home from work.
Don't be a sucker idolizing a girl that's 6/10 or 7/10 or even at all really. Just don't do it. Give them bare minimum contact and attention and fuck them occasionally like cumdump whores and they'll love you. Commit to them and they feel they can stop trying and just treat you like shit instead

Literally as soon as the dog's ears perked up, up mom got and towards the door she went. Sometimes she even opened the door and started nagging him before he was even out of his truck.

Ohhh... but it gets better. You can’t even fuck, so you’re basically just cucking yourself at this point.

If there is love it's only between you and creator wherever he Is hiding, I would hide too probably.

Same shit with an angry single mom. I can wake up at 8am, go to class then work and get home at 10 and be greeted with screaming for not doing the dishes. That's why I am gtfo-ing in college.

I just got home from a factory I happen to own. Hard day, 11 hours. Mentally drained but happy. All the money goes to my pocket. Weekend is also mine. At the same time my managers told me how they have to take their kids to soccer, how their missuses wanted to do some shopping with them, etc. On a side note, should I buy Honda Africa Twin and do a bit mountain trekking? Or maybe go on a weekend trip to Vietnam? Anyway, I'll think about it while having beer and playing Left 4 Dead 2. Maybe go to pub later on and have a burger, chips and some cold beer.

Been there, done that. My ex used to be "emotional" when she was PMSing (which was 25% to 50% of the time). During those periods I just wanted to get away and avoid her angry, emotional tirades. She would get so pissed off at me because my instincts were either to fight or flight. She would say "why is it so hard to just give me a hug and console me during these times". Really? REALLY??!!

Find 2-3 hours a day to put into a legit side hustle and your problem won't be here in 12 months. Not another shift, use the money from one job to free you from the other and be prepared to put in a year of work. I have simple firearms blog paying me $1500-2000 a month now. Just affiliate links from basic top 10 lists. Live beneath your means, drop the wage slave mentality and plough your efforts into something you love doing that will pay you and sort your life out in the end. I kept up freelance work while I built the site, it took a year to make a cent and two years to start bringing in decent money. But that's really not a lot of time if you're enjoying it and learning shit as you go.

Don’t miss this shit either. Just for some vagina smh. Nothing more to offer.

Oh, and no sex today. (*cause I drilled so hard by my ex while you were at work earning my money)
[–]combatmonk2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually I enjoying cold hearted lines delivered after having beverages. Women are so used to being agreed with it’s like they’ve never met a man. Zero fucks.
[–]forme2c2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've known a few guys stuck in that problem. Work all day, come home to a cold bitching, whining woman that did nothing all day (stay at home wife, without kids). He had to cook dinner, clean up the place, do grocery shopping on Saturday, etc etc. Granted the women were super hot, everything else wasn't.
The guys found out it wasn't Paradise. Their women wanted to go out for dinner and be entertained all night. The guys were exhausted from double duty work (job+ house chores). It wasn't long until a divorce happen. And the guys went back to being happy

Exactly.
Would this be done for men?
Not very probable.

So I just came across this subreddit and this is this first post I saw. Do some guys really think all women are like this?
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They ARE all like this.
[–]dead_mall111-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hope you’re joking. If you aren’t then you live a sad reality of basing half of the population of a few bad encounters
[–]CommanderHeMan7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We don’t think women are like this.
Through observation and testimony of thousands upon thousands of men, we know women are like this.
[–]lukeyj_gtfc4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not all women, just unfortunately the ones I end up with. It describes the last 10 years of my life.
It's more commonplace than you'd expect.
[–]Morgormir4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not all of them (personally) but you'd be suprised how many are this shallow and vapid. Much can be said for men too though. It's more a consequence of modern culture than anything.
[–]washingtonpanther1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
oh good, this can only end well. ;)
[–]spiesvsmercs-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not saying all women are like this, but do you want to gamble your future on your partner staying the way she is... after marriage, children, and decades together?
Or maybe you just decide to live life alone but otherwise on your terms?
