I sure hope that's an ex-girlfriend and he filed a police report.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 208 points209 points210 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

This is sexual harassment and likely sexual assault, the main difference is that when a woman does it, she can do it publicly to the applause of her friends and family

This society (and particularly the women in it, as this article shows) are a lost cause

[–]Huntress_Nyx 58 points59 points60 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Isn't there a form of torture where they put naked soldiers exposed and have women mock them?

[–]Net_Flux3 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So they got a bunch of ugly women who don't have the balls (or maybe tits is more appropriate here) to show off their own bodies to "mock" fit, young soldiers?

[–]Huntress_Nyx 36 points37 points38 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's basically a humiliation type of torture. And I'm pretty sure that it's human rights violation.

[–]mikeg5417 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes. It has been used against muslim men during the war on terror. Female interrogators would wear revealing clothing and other tactics to arouse male prisoners as part of the humiliation. I even heard of one account where a female interrogator smeared menstrual blood (not sure if it was real or a prop) on a prisoner's face.

[–]Net_Flux3 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Female interrogators would wear revealing clothing and other tactics to arouse male prisoners as part of the humiliation.

To "arouse" or to sexually harass? The only people this gross shit would arouse are the perverts interrogating them.

[–]mikeg5417 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My use of "as part of the humiliation" was pretty clearly a criticism of the actions. Sorry it wasn't strong enough language for you.

[–]Net_Flux3 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not talking about your language, though. I'm pretty sure those perverts actually did think they were "arousing" their targets. Most female exhibitionists and perverts do.

[–]harleypig 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever been in a stressful situation, and something ... pops up to see what's going on, regardless of your actual emotional state?

This is an actual and normal biological reaction. You are immersed in a culture where revealing clothes are the norm ... you have been taught how to deal with normal bodily functions.

But if you'd been raised in an extremely sexually repressive environment *and* been taught that not only is your body's natural reaction an evil thing but that it means you might fail your compatriots ... well, the psychological torture described would be a real thing.

[–]Klutzy_Pride_5644 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah yes, America's terrorist campaign that they cleverly called a "war on terror". War of terror would have been more apt (credit Borat)

Aside from the actions of the woman in question is that these items are sold with the clear intention of putting men in this position but nobody seems to care. Women can similarly go online and buy fake pregnancy tests and fake paperwork which are sold as prank items but are clearly designed to allow women to defraud men.

Dissolving swimsuits, false pregnancy tests etc are designed and sold specifically to put men in bad, potentially illegal situations. The sellers of such items are complicit in my opinion.

[–]ObviousRascal 118 points119 points120 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

To be fair, they do make dissolving bikinis. I do agree the people who give said dissolving swimwear are assholes tho. The "prank" can get your victim charged and put on the sex offender list. Ruin their whole damn lives for a giggle. The fake pregnancy tests should be fraud and selling them should be like selling fake money. Extremely obvious fakes or catch a charge.

[–]63daddy 81 points82 points83 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’d say the same with dissolving bikinis. Whether targeting men or women, the intent is to make someone publicly nude against their will which is not only embarrassing but most likely a violation of indecent exposure laws.

The fake pregnancy tests are probably even more abused.

[–]ObviousRascal 29 points30 points31 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well swimwear covers bikinis too. And it IS a violation of indecent exposure laws. If a hole in your clothes u didn't know u had violates it, being naked most certainly does. Law is the law, legal doesn't mean moral. I don't think accidental nudity should get you on the sex offender list, which is where people guilty for indecent exposure go btw, but it does.

Legal system in America doesn't differentiate between a pedo or some dude with a hole in his pants. Or even someone getting their pants pulled down by a bully. The charge is the same, u got naughty bits exposed u catch the charge. If u got money u might skate. Most people don't tho.

[–]63daddy 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well said. There are guys who have ended up on the sex offenders list for peeing in the bushes. It doesn’t have to be sexual.

Of course, how police enforce it is also an issue. Let’s face it, police will likely be more sympathetic to a woman who claims her bikini dissolved than a guy who says his swim trunks dissolved.

[–]dw87190 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Aussie here. Knowing how Australia works, only a man would get on the list for a "prank" like this. The only women who would even have to worry about the list are women pranking a bloke who have right wing politician relatives

[–]parasitius 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

can get your victim charged and put on the sex offender list.

But this is always a risk in shithole countries so let's distribute the blame fairly rather than pretend that the laws are OK - since they're also not

thanks

[–]ObviousRascal 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The law isn't fair. And it's America lol. I never said the law was right nor fair.

[–]ContractSmooth4202 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I highly doubt their lives would be ruined even if it was recorded. The dude could cover their dick and balls with hands very easily, and if intelligent splash water then yell for someone to grab a towel so no one sees anything. Also they couldn't be arrested for indecent exposure since they're covering their genitals with their hands, clearly embarrassed, and asking ppl for towels and other stuff to properly cover themselves with

[–]PeteyMax 61 points62 points63 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"...as critics argue over who is in the wrong"

Seems pretty straightforward to me. This isn't rocket science.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is to them, when a male is the victim. They can't wrap their heads around it. Especially with a female perpetrator. Especially with a female perpetrator close to the victim, making this DV.

[–]ABlindCookie 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In what world in what circumstances is the man in the wrong in any way, shape or form here? What the actual fuck??

[–]HoplaMoy 47 points48 points49 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh fuck I saw the original post about this it was on AITA. I told him to leave her and call the police. I'm surprised it made the news. If this was done to a woman the man would be in jail by now.

There's a YouTube video about how to turn any bikini into a dissolving bikini by replacing the regular thread with water soluble thread. It's been up for 13 years and has 10 million views. I reported the video 2 days ago and it hasn't been taken down yet. If the average person found this disturbing instead of funny/sexy the video would have been taken down years ago. Report it if you want, but I doubt it'll do much. Also, because water at the beach is opaque and there are generally plenty of people around, the woman could always ask a stranger for a towel and not be seen naked by anyone. At a public pool the situation is worse but lightly splashing water along the surface could still probably conceal the nudity. So the prank/revenge would be embarrassing, but not as devastating as most people here seem to think.

I'm pretty sure one could sue for that, especially if they were a gift.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 51 points52 points53 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was more than a gift. She took his real swimsuit and made sure there were not towels available to cover himself with. It was planned, and the suit was only one part.

[–]MemeMansGrandson 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

and she has the nerve to scream at him and call him immature because he left. Like giving someone dissolving swimwear and then body shaming them is very mature.

[–]Nihi1986 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Very nice prank from his 'girlfriend', really... How fucked up you have to be to do that.

[–]italianbro89 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I see a ton of videos like this on social media, mostly from their GF or wife. I don’t know how that’s even remotely OK, and why the husband or boyfriend doesn’t get up and leave her disgusting ass. If that was me and I got pranked, she’d be out the door.

[–]vector5633 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's pretty fucked up. Reverse the roles and see World War 3 start.

[–]Ok_Night_7767 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He will likely be ridiculed beyond endurance if he tries to sue or have her prosecuted. The legal avenues will almost certainly fail him. If he retaliates in any way, he will be charged so basically, it's a no win situation for him. Then society stupidly wonders why some men react with violence.

[–]Your_client_sucks_95 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So if he fights back he's either immature or a misogynist?

[–]arushus 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It might have been a funny joke if they were by themselves, no one else around, and she packed an extra pair of real trunks for him. Then I could laugh it off and we'd have a funny story, but what she subjected him to is straight up cruel.

[–]AndyBrown65 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reverse the roles and everyone would be losing their minds and her would be languishing in some Thai prison

[–]wanderlust_12 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

If this thing does go to court, given the prejudiced and anti-men justice system Australia (and pretty much of the west) has, will be laughed out of the court.

[–]Sufficient_Rip6595 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, if she can do that to her man! She does not deserve him… dump her! Tell her she has no respect… walk way she is not worth it

[–]pasta4u 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just an FYI clothing companies use a lot of chemicals to keep the clothes wrinkle free while shipping and in the stores. So its best practice to wash all clothes before you wear them. It will also prevent you from getting screwed like this

[–]Your_client_sucks_95 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

thats wild. womem are fucked in the head

[–]Thealk3mist 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To me it’s just so fucking crude and stupid. If a girl did that to me, she’d be fearful of my retaliation for sure. Because I wouldn’t let that slide. I think the antidote isn’t so much citing sexual assault etc, but men really becoming their higher versions and literally never letting women like that close to them. When it happens, all hell should break lose

[–]Character_Pirate_618 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow. That's really messed up. How is she not in jail? Forcing someone to be naked in public is most certainly a crime.

But I still have a hard time dealing with the fact that he could have just walked out of the water. Embarrassing, yes. And so what?

[–]AvailableCandidate89 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So there may not have been a way to get out (river?) on top of needing an appropriate context to get out, because if you get out in the wrong one you might be physically attacked/arrested.

Staying with the group and silently enduring the harassment and abuse might have been his safest option

[–]ContractSmooth4202 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Couldn't he yell for a towel while covering his balls/dick with his hands? He's not exposing anything, embarrassed, and trying to cover himself as best he can

Yup.
