I view myself as a feminist, seeing it as a belief in gender equality, for both women and men.

That may be so, but actions speak louder than words. There are many (proven false) statistics that feminists all over the world keep repeating, feminism has only focused on womens rights (some times at the cost of mens). And of course it doesn't help that feminism generally compares every woman on the planet to the top 1% of men in the richest country on Earth and then claims that "men still have it better".

Most men here have been hurt by feminism.

I have personally attended a documentary screening about female circumcision and during the question and answer part I was booed by the feminists in attendence because I said I can relate to the women as I have suffered in a similar way.

Edit: Being anti feminist isn't constructive. But it is a natural(and justified) response to feminism. I wish it weren't so and I believe that we could reach a wider audience if we stopped saying it but that isn't really a possibility. There is just too much(justified) anger.

Most of the feminists I have met have been well meaning but lied to. Their heads were full of illogical propositions and false statistics. If we were less anti feminist we could actually have a chance of showing them how wrong they are, but instead they immediately disregard everything we say before we even start talking.

The biggest problem I have with feminism is that it claims to be for equality but doesn't do anything about the largest inequalities in the western world.

Why? Because the victims are men. Male Genital Mutilation, the draft, the lifespan gap, the schooling gap, the crime victim gap, the crime conviction gap, the family courts, the lack of support etc.

These are all things which, if the feminist movement was for real equality, would be at the top of their list. But they aren't.

And if you are a man, you should join us in fighting these injustices. Because you know damn well that feminists aren't going to help you.

Feminism has done a lot of damage to the men in this country. I'm glad that someone is finally calling that out. I'm sick of pretending that an ideology that specifically favors women over men is based on equality. That's bullshit and I'm very happy to see some people saying so.

Here's a question for you. I already checked your user history enough to see if you were a troll. I don't think you're a troll. I found out you're a gay man. Fine. Just putting that out there, because it affects where you are coming from. I also noticed you have a large number of submissions to various subreddits, including LGBT ones, but have never posted in Men's Rights.

In your self-post, you said that you "understand fully the notions of masculinity and 'manliness' in society, and how they affect me and how I interpret them". This is pretty vague. I've heard it before, and I know where you're going with this, but I'll let you explain yourself a little further before judging.

So let me ask you a simple question: what men's rights issues do you care about? Tell me specifically what men's issues you think are important, and then based on your answer maybe we can have a conversation worth having.

Because actions speak louder than words, and those actions indicate that it isn't for equality. Egalitarianism and Humanitarianism is the equality movement. Feminism is basically a movement for gender equality by focusing only on the problems of women. There are hate mongering feminists yet I do not see the more "equality" based feminists denouncing them, but rather saying "not all feminists are like that." If you are actually for equality, you disassociate yourself from those type of people. Those are the feminists in power, and the ones that change things. Also, many statistics are skewed or fudged to make it seem as if it is a woman's problem, while it isn't. Feminists also boycott things that Men's Rights groups try to shoot for, that have no negative effect on women. Yeah, yeah...another person coming in here to "politely" dismiss our views and to "kindly" tell us how wrong we are and that we should embrace feminism as it will ultimately be the answer to all of our ills as men.

Hippie-chan...let me clarify something for you, that you in your personal hubris that you missed about us.

Feminism and feminists (actual as well as self-proclaimed) are responsible for many of the issues that are plaguing us men in here right now.
False rape accusations; that has feminism written all over it.
Fighting against shared custody; feminism strikes again.
The current "mancession" is due to feminist lobbyists stopping the president from using government funds to help revive the failing construction and infrastructure industries in the country and pushing him to divert those funds to feminist-friendly industries which had already demonstrated stable growth and employment during the same periods which the aforementioned construction and infrastructure industries demonstrated a steady decline causing massive layoffs.
VAWA's notorious "primary aggressor arrest" policy which targets men was pushed through by feminists, even though fully vetted studies show that domestic violence is a 50/50 split between men and women.

I could continue, but the gist of it is that far more harm has been done to men in feminism's name than good. There are many men in here who would like to see this change, but as it stands now, there is little that feminism can do to earn our trust.

Add to this the fact that we regularly get "missionaries" like you who come into our reddit to "educate" us on how wrong we are for feeling how we feel or to "gaslight" us about the harm done to us by feminism and feminists.

In closing, I have to quote the legendary Stevie Wonder. Don't take offense by the phrasing of the lyrics as they are not meant to be insulting but to illustrate our ire at how often we hear what you are telling us:

You post in a subreddit dedicated to men's rights, one to which you have never bothered to contribute any opinion before you decided to tell us all how we are doing it wrong. You offer no rationale at all, in your opening post or subsequent comments, instead demanding that we provide proof or else adding your own anecdotal experiences.

After twenty years of fruitless arguments against your kind of feminism, I would have been content merely to downvote you. It is Feminism, not the movement for Men's Rights, which is increasingly being called out. It is our movement that is growing, not yours. It is up to you and the rest of your brand to back up what you are saying - not us - and feminists are finding their ideology poorly equipped to handle anything of the sort.

Feminism is, by and large, much more well defined by the actions of those who choose to label themselves feminists rather than the words of those who claim to be for equality and call themselves feminists.

The feminists who say "we're not all like that" are usually the ones who do nothing more than post on reddit or other forums. The feminists who are actually doing something are the ones who are passing laws and policies that are biased against men and favour women. They depend on the weekend feminists who oppose them with nothing more than a few paragraphs on an online forum to be able to continue do to the evil things they do.

If feminism is truly about equality, then as a movement that has been active for what...5 decades? it has failed miserably in doing anything that benefits men.
