If both procedures remove about the same amount of excess skin for cleanliness and both deaden sexual sensation, why is it important to keep females in tact and males not? Is sexual sensation socially considered more important more women than men?

It's disgusting and people don't even think it's a big deal. What makes it even worse is the lies perpetrated by doctors to convince people it's a necessary procedure when in reality they are using them to make beauty products and of course make money.

Ive got a trunk... Tmi i know. But i had a side effect from a med that caused my psoriasis to flair all over and caused swelling and a case of balanitis, made me wish I was cut. Doctors said to stop the medication. If it kept on for a few weeks i had to get it cut.i don't condone it but i wouldnt whish it on my worse enemy.

You'll never get feminists on board with that attitude. Here's how to proceed:

The foreskin is basically a natural lubricant. Not all women like chafing.
MGM leads to desensitization, which means sex is going to involve a lot of hard thrusting.
I guess some women like things a bit rough in the bedroom, especially if it's what they're used to, but it may not be a good thing.

Hell, I'd get snipped tomorrow if it would make me a god in bed. But the heavy duty "for extra sensitive men" condom effect of circumcision isn't for me.

I dunno i think it's people trying to defend what they have had done to them just like women that have had FGM done to them. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. Mutilating babies is bad. It does not matter which one is worse. It is not a competition.

I find it very weird that feminists turn it into a competition when they feel the need to point out the most extreme version of FGM is worse than circumcision anytime you mention it.

I watched the episode of Penn and Teller Bullshit where they discuss this issue. They raised the same notion about what's acceptable, and they concluded neither one really is. Interesting point made on the show, you can actually restore the foreskin by stretching the existing skin with weights.

They're usually not the same. I looked hard for statistics that support similarity, but it seems that female circumcision often removes the clitoris. That's a huge difference. Of course all circumcision is wrong.

I am sure I will be downvoted by some for stating this, but what the heck.

We can all agree that circumcision whether on a male of female is an archaic and disgusting tradition, but equating them is at best ill-informed. In female genital mutilation the results vary from region to region but in general the removal of the whole of the external genitalia is the result. Taken that a sizeable amount of women cannot reach orgasm without clitorial stimulation this practice has a whole other dimension of consequences than male circumcision. From a personal point of view I would like to argue that both practices are bad, but it is actually more important to try to get rid of the one that does the most damage first.

Also, even though the motivation behind this picture might not be adversarial, it certainly comes off as it. Let's just all come together and say that this practice should be abolished wether it is a girl or a boy!

Edit: to those who down-vote, I would ask you to do some research on female genital mutilation

Sorry, op, you're super wrong and you're making us look bad. Female circumcision (often known as female genital mutilation or FGM) often refers partial or complete removal of the clitoris or labia, and it's often done with the intention of ensuring that the victims will never derive pleasure from sex. So it's more akin to cutting off the head of your penis than your foreskin. If you're thinking about removing the hood of the clitoris, this isn't widely performed and it's a straw man to set it up for comparison.

Often FGM is done within cultures who consider women property, sex to be for reproduction/mens pleasure, and adultery to be a mortal offense which should be prevented by any means necessary.

Also, female circumcision is often done later in life (though later life male circumcision exists in some cultures as well) often producing psychological trauma in the victims.

Ftr I don't support male circumcision in western culture, wouldn't have it done to my son, think it's inhumane. You can't compare the two or point to hipocracy here, female circumcision is clearly 1000000 times more cruel, oppressive and fucked up. There's a lot we have to critique on this sub with regards to hipocracy in western culture on human rights for men. Please don't make posts here which imply assertions that aren't true. You invalidate the rest of us.

Female circumcision though, as far as I know is worse one. There's a podcast on This American life on it...it doesn't just reduce sensation it's also very painful at times to actually have sex for them.

As a snipped male that's a pleasure I don't have to know.

Male circumcision is practiced by the overlords of society. They want to remain kings while chopping off the dick sensation of their enemies.

I am a firm believer that circumcision is a way to make a population dwindle without war. Genocide isn't able to be accomplished if a population knows it is being killed off. You must slowly pick off their satisfaction, and way of living.

Take away their sexual pleasure and they reproduce less.

Feel free to ask me more questions about this. I firmly believe that circumcision is a way to control a population that it is imposed on, under the guise of "sanitation"
