I have been lurking at incel forums for a long time now. Here are my observations:

  1. Many incels have legit mental problems. Many incels have autism, anxiety, I have even seen some who have schizophrenia. Several are also most likely depressed.
  2. Many incels are not white. Despite the media attempts to paint incels as "white supremacists" and "Nazis", I noticed that a significant proportion of incels is not even white. Many seem to specifically be Indian and Asian as these races are considered to be facing significant troubles in the dating world.
  3. Several incels are unemployed. Many incels are NEETs who are not working.

This is not a case of "privileged white males who support white supremacy" despite what the media tells you. Many incels have serious mental and health problems and several of them are not even white. They're the exact opposite of privileged. The media should be ashamed for demonizing people who are generally poor, unemployed and even mentally ill. Also, another narrative I hear often is that the only reason these people have problems is because "the patriarchy" is telling them that men who don't have sex are worthless. That's ridiculous. Even if some masculine norms are making things worse for these people, you really wish to tell me that this is the only reason? That these people could be brainwashed into being happy for being always rejected by the opposite sex? I don't see it. Lets imagine a woman who has been rejected by men her whole life, wouldn't that woman probably be bitter in some ways? This is not just the "patriarchy", both men and women seek validation through sex and relationships and being seen as undesirable by the opposite sex is painful. No amount of brainwashing and social engineering can change that.

I recognize that several incels are toxic and I condemn this kind of toxicity. However, here we're talking about people who are basically social outcasts. Surely, we can find some understanding about why they're so bitter towards society.

It's really disgraceful that the media demonizes these people and there is no attempt to take their concerns seriously. I think the reason why society reacts this way is because this is a problem that primarily affects men. I have noticed that female depression tends to be taken more seriously and generally people listen to female concerns more than they listen to male concerns.
