This reinforces the traditional role of men as enforcers ("...help men act as informed and prepared bystanders, ready to intervene...").

It reinforces sex as a prize for social compliance ("Ladies, encourage your male friends...").

It reinforces the idea that men are more capable and must harness their power for the benefit of women ("...establish an on-campus male community dedicated to the respectful treatment of women.")

I'm not going to go around nosing into other people's business (and being "ready to intervene to prevent the potential" is definitely asking for men to enforce morality).

Men do not have to be the warrior class ready and waiting to protect women as a class. I'm not paid for being anyone's bodyguard, so I'll do as my own morals dictate (would break up a fight for a friend, stop a stranger from getting beat to death, and call the cops for anything else).

I try to give just as much effort towards changing society to respectfully treat men and women, and beyond that is sexism to benefit women.

Go, but point out it's not a gendered crime teh way people think. Point out the Feibert and CDC studies that show women are AT LEAST as violent as men, if not more so. (imo because they lack accountability)

"Chivalry" was originally a warriors code, until there was a queen on the throne that ascribed to the anti-Christian 'romance' movement. Then all sorts of ways men were supposed to treat women got grafted on to chivalry. Now, those are the only portions that people remember.

When people mention "chivalry", does your mind go more in the direction of men opening doors and paying for food for women? Or does it bring to mind abstaining from killing your fallen foe, to instead ransom him, and treating him as an honored (if guarded) guest in your home, and the conduct expected of said fallen foe?
