This article is from a few years ago, beaver creek candle company now manages it. They buy cans and donate the money to soup kitchens. They also employ developmentally disabled people. You can find the site here . The candles are 10 dollars each but there is also wax melts it seems.

[+]chrisisnotcheese1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

A fellow candle enthusiast I see

[–]Ihatecandles 93 points94 points95 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I guess, i just know a lot about the business.

[–]jamii992 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You must really like candles

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

General Canobi.

[–]B00TYMASTER 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Username does not check out.

[–]NickE25U 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just bought 6. I've known about these for a long time but never pulled the trigger. If they are still donating and even better with their staff, that sealed the deal. Got some good smelling ones, I'm sure the wife will hate. But can't wait to try them out.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That’s cool that the company still holds up what the boy originally did.

[–]Ihatecandles 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Indeed.

[–]bullseyed723 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

The SheCans are $10, the ManCans are only $3.50.

Sounds like discrimination!

[–]Ihatecandles 68 points69 points70 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

No, the melts are 3.50, the candles are 10 dollars. There just isnt any melts for she cans

[–]CrawlThroughKnives 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

What are melts?

[–]aiydee 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

To clarify a little more.
You get a holder. You put the melt in the top.
You then buy a cheap scentless tealight candle to put under it.
It tends to work out cheaper this way which is why some people prefer it.

[–]hobk1ard 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Or get an electric one and it is a bit safer than a candle.

[–]RolfIsSonOfShepnard 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A scented light bulb?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. It's like an electric potpourri burner and does not produce light. There's another thing that goes on lightbulbs but that fell out of favor because old-school lightbulbs made a lot more heat and that shit was a fire hazard.

[–]Ihatecandles 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are wax melts. You buy a special thing to melt them and they make the candle smell.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Scentsy is the popular brand name.

[–]Mild111 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

F*cking pink tax

[–]bullseyed723 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was going for it being men are worthless compared to women apparently, but both work.

[–]dadibom 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ShinyThingsInMud 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]boredrandomguy 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think anyone wants candles that smell like ass. :P

[–]ShinyThingsInMud 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

hahahah you'd be surprised.

[–]dienamight 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can't believe he doesn't have Gasoline scent!

[–]ThomasTheWarpEngine 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just make your own. They burn really quick though. :P

[–]xNOM 193 points194 points195 points 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I was confused at first. I thought this was going to be an article about gynecomastia.

He's right. Coffee and campfires smell awesome. I wish he had pipe tobacco.

EDIT Oh man. I just went to his site. He has "Grandpa's pipe scent." Also "fresh cut grass." Awesome!!

[–]Taxus_Calyx 27 points28 points29 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Now they need whiskey scent.

[–]GuyWithTheStalker 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Maybe gin too.

Funny story i read the other day: Apparently nobody today actually knows what pre-wwI American gin tasted or looked like. Kinda weird.

[–]HerpDerpingVII 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It tasted like bathtubs.

[–]GuyWithTheStalker 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Please explain

[–]KidCoheed 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Prohibition which means most Alcohol was made in Bathtubs and hand built copper stills that were operated in the basement of a speakeasy

[–]GuyWithTheStalker 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol...

[–]PBR_Sheetz 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I will use the candles to hide my whiskey sent haha

[–]Kuato2012 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Re: grandpa's pipe scent... A little pouch of pipe tobacco makes for excellent potpourri, even if you don't smoke.

[–]xNOM 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did not know that. Probably more healthy than burning it too!

[–]not_just_amwac 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

middle-aged mum chiming in here: I'd LOVE the "fresh-cut grass" one.

[–]Chocolate_fly 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a candle at home that smells like tobacco leaf + vanilla bourbon. I love getting home and lighting it up.

Candles are awesome- they smell great and you get to have a little contained fire in your room.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Now to convince the wife to get some of those....

[–]DaSaw 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the point is that you buy them, and light them, *without* her permission.

[–]iBeat4Meat 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

don’t forget the pizza scent and the bacon scent

[–]Gambizzle 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a frigging legend!!!

[–]EricAllonde 237 points238 points239 points 8 years ago* (23 children) | Copy Link

It's unbelievable the way that some people will shit on a man who's doing good for people who need it.

In the same way, last week there was a big stink over a 20-year-old guy who's a YouTuber and, in the last few years, has given away over $500k in cash to poor and homeless people.

But some scumbags decided to dig back through his Twitter feed and found that 3 years ago he said, "Windows 10 is gay". So apparently that makes him a homophobe. So that means he needs to be torn down, and none of those scumbags care that his comment was only a joke made in passing any more than they care about all the good he's done. They still did their best to tear him down all the same.

EDIT: found the info page for the business:

Because everything you've ever said or done can be taken out of context to ruin you. Because HOW DARE YOU SUCCEED WHEN I'M RIGHT HERE DOING NOTHING AND FAILING?

[+]nekoexmachina1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

It takes a LOT to fail at doing nothing.

I can't even imagine a person who can be so bad they d fail at doing nothing.

[–]-Master-Builder- -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Imagine how much better off America would be if the current administration just did nothing.

[–]PIG_CUNT 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

3 years ago? And he’s 20 now? So they’re attacking him for something he said when he was a child.

[–]EricAllonde 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yep.

His age makes the $500k+ that he's given away even more amazing, but those assholes just don't care.

[–]PIG_CUNT 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Sadly funny how those same people use the word “nuance” to excuse anti-male sexism (basically, "It's OK to discriminate against men because nuance.") and anti-white racism (Example: Google internal memos) because nuance makes it ok...

And yet the same people refuse to acknowledge that when he was a child who wasn’t old enough to consent, he used a common slang term to make a statement about Windows 10, NOT about homosexuals. What happened to “nuance”?

The most ridiculous thing about it is that the world is full of bigots who don’t contribute anything to help anyone. Look at tumblr, black twitter, twoxchromosomes, etc. Almost none of the bigots there get lambasted because they haven’t done anything constructive.

Great logic: attack and punish only the people who have risen above the masses. Genius.

[–]GunsRfuns 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The people who got offended are gay

[–]BarefootUnicorn 23 points24 points25 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No! I'm gay and I call things "gay" all the time. It means "stupid" now, too, and I'm fine with that.

[–]datcarguy 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought south park settled this?

[–]GunsRfuns 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats gay

[–]Revoran 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a gay old time we are having here in this thread :)

Mmmm, now I want a gaytime.

[–]KidCoheed 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I remember when a lesbian friend of my family was hanging out at my house and she just goes 'Man that Twilight movie is probably the gayest movie I've seen in a while'

[–]f__ckyourhappiness 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My gay friends call me a "fucking faggot" all the time when I'm sucking their dick.

[–]GunsRfuns 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL thats gay

[–]tallwheel 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's true, though. Windows 10 is gay.

[–]Electroverted 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some people think that progress is watching the world burn.

[–]Hwga_lurker_tw 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously though, he's only a boy. He's done great things for humanity and these insecure SJWs try to tear him down? Motherfuckers.

[–]aadharsh_2 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m going to be very very pissed if mr beasts channel gets hit cause of that stupid Atlantic article

[–]v574v 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a typically gay person, who’s not gay, I find those people’s behaviour gay. = As a typically happy person, who’s not a homosexual, I find those people’s behaviour unimpressive.

The English language at it’s finest! My dog’s breakfast is cleaner than english.

[–]nyoom420 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Windows 10 is nice.

[–]Uzrathixius 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Neat, I've been looking for candles like these and those aren't bad prices.

[–]njullpointer 64 points65 points66 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This happened several years ago, but it doesn't stop it being ridiculous and ugly that feminist SJW types leaped on a boy who turned an act of charity into a business and a bigger act of continual charity because he had the temerity to do it by selling scented candles to men.

Nevermind the fact he also had a line of scented candles for women, no, the very fact he sold to men made him a target.

It was disgusting and quite probably marked the start of my journey towards disillusion with the narrative.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points38 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn. Kid has a Hart of gold.

[–]JonSnowsGhost 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, it's almost like Tumblr (along with most of the popular social media sites) is an SJW cesspool.
Definitely gonna buy a couple of these later.

[–]js4856 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A good read OP

[–]aerovado 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They have some hilarious scents - "Santa's Beard", "Dirt", "Burnt Rubber"

[–]azbiker 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just bought three...and looking forward to getting more!!! I love the company and what it stands for.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How..............How does a sane, reasonable, MORAL person shit on a kid for.......................CHARITY..............FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE.............

[–]KidCoheed 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because he made his business based on stereotypical masculine things and masculinity is a threat even if it doesn't involve those who feel threatened, even if they didn't even know the masculine activity was happening, it must be stopped

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Argh, when I see shit like this, I wish these weren't stories, not because they don't deserve to be told or anything, but because we shouldn't be seeing people do things like this in a First World country (quite frankly, anywhere, but baby steps, y'know)

[–]H0boHumpinSloboBabe 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do they make a version in ComBlock Cosmoline and/or Hoppes #9 scent? Mother of god I would buy a case of both, love those smells!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy hell. I'm sold.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This kid has done more for people than any feminist.

[–]gungroutgary 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

A guy I knew as a kid created a business almost exactly like this...but instead of masculinity it's focused on mental health. Really hope he didn't copy.

[+]wigglet881 points 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Obviously didn't copy if he focused on mental health. Might have been inspired by this guy, nothing wrong with that. Even if he launched he same exact business it's a free market and he should still be admired for backing himself.

[–]gungroutgary 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good point. I just thought it was crazy how similar they are, soup cans, donating the soup that was in them, all that

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have to buy this

[–]sarindong 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

holy shit. right away went to buy some of these bad boys only to discover they dont ship to my country (south korea) :(

side note: $48 shipping to canada from the US is ludicrous.

[–]Atronn 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ouch, was gonna check out shipping to Canada.

[–]Smallsmalm 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My dad had a candle that smelled like a garage. Whenever he was working on cars (career auto mechanic) and did not want my help I would smell the garage scented man candle and wish I could hang out with my father. He always smells like Old Spice and gasoline.

[–]abend2 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've had an idea for awhile that I think would be a hit: a men's fragrance called "Toxic Masculinity".

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

80k meals not people. But very very impressive for a young entrepreneurial. We need more people like this

[–]XenoX101 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So let me get this straight, women have a gargantuan, enormous, massive, incomprehensibly large amount of products marketed to them as "Sexy", "Beautiful", "Feminen", "Divine", "The real you", etc. Yet when this guy decides to make a masculine product he gets chastised.

This is so anti-male and sexist, I don't even. I have no words for how stupid and hypocritical this is.

And whether he donates the cans to the homeless or not is beside the point. Sure it makes it even worse how awful these people are, but until I start seeing L'Oreal, Chanel, and all the other brands that market distinctly to women start donating there is no reason for this expectation.

[–]Danabler42 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If they have scents like methanol exhaust and burned oil, or tire chunks and speedi-dri, I'll buy like 50, the guys at the track would love them

[–]Null_zero 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Burnt rubber is one of the scents.

[–]jfartster 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm going to sound like an idiot here (wouldn't be the first time..) but just so I understand, they were angry at him for marketing candles to men...? With scents that would supposedly appeal to men? Is that it?

I just don't get it from their perspective. Is it that they felt left out, or was it "sexist" to say that those smells appeal to men? Or..? Not expecting a reasonable argument for why, but is it just because the word "man" is in the product name? Cause I can't really see any other reason anyone would be mad.

[–]hackersaq 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many factors in play to set off militant feminists:

  1. A young man did a thing
  2. That thing was successful
  3. That thing was based on whimsically stereotypical man stuff
  4. That thing was done with an overt purpose of providing a "man version" of a thing stereotypically associated with women

...I could go on - but you get the idea. Your incredulous response is appropriate.

[–]Villeo 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I bought like 6 of these from him back when they first started messing with him. They were so ignorant, I even bought some she cans haha.

[–]Leneord1 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That guy designed candles which cause testosterone to be produced, which is tied to masculinity and things that were designed to be for men

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can I get some candles that smell like fresh hot soup?

[+]Kuramo -32 points-31 points-30 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why should a man need a mancan? . For God's sake it's just a fucking soup can redesigned as a candle.

I hate gendered things. Being a woman isn't a special thing as neither is being a man .

[–]feraxil 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. Women are 53% of the human population. So being a woman is normal. But being a man is special. It only gets more true when you factor in white knights, simps, and cucks.

[–]Jeff_eljefe -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

47% is not special lmao just stop. But op is over reacting

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

OP? He hasn't said a word on the subject except "ManCans." Who knows what his fucking context is? Maybe he's a feminist. Maybe he's a neo-nazi. Maybe he's just a normal guy. How the hell should I know?

3% isn't a big difference but 3% is a very large bit of Earth's population. Saying that being a man is "special" is something I disagree with, because we should be equal. But 3% is still a large difference, and while "special" is a very unethical way to put it, it's true.

[–]feraxil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

6%, not 3%. 100-53=47. 53-47=6.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

that just proves my point.

Mainly. Occasionally something good comes across, which is why I stick around--well, that, and to downvote particularly egregious examples of pointless misogyny (a pretty common thing on this sub). That said, manly scented candles is interesting.

pointless misogyny

Pointless? What would the world be without hate? It would probably be a lot less established.

Also, you're wrong. The whole point of this sub is to call out misandry and promote male rights (which is low nowadays especially in the media). That's not misogyny. Once and a while you'll get an incel whining here and there, but the comments will always be the community grilling him.

MRAs (going by majority) are not sexist slobs. Neither are FRAs (again, majority). That's the whole thing.

sure im down for candles, they're great. man-specific marketing is even great. what work does this image do to help spread mens rights?

Promoting the notion of maleness, itself, as a positive identity?
