I feel the same when there's a tragedy and journalists will say something like "74 dead including 3 women and 6 children". It implies that those 9 people are more important than the other 65 people, because they were just men.

I got into a similar conversation with my cousin’s “woke” husband, but it was about children. He posted about the rate at which girls commit suicide and we as “men” need to do something about that. I replied that boys do it 3x more, but we should focus on all kids. Fucking heads asploded in the peanut gallery : “How dare you!” “This is about GIRLS!” Etc. So glad that none of them have male children.

If they said 75% of homeless people are men, there would be an uproar from the feminist community about how nobody cares about women's rights. They put this in the newspaper, and guess what? Nobody says anything. There is no uproar, because this is "normal" to expect men to just suck it up. It shouldn't be the norm, but it is.

No, not necessarily. Gender is a social construct. We can't tell whether the remaining three are men. Some of those women might be men too.

I think this is just a statement that is bringing light to the fact that women are also homeless and when we typically think of homelessness we associate it with only men. Women are especially vulnerable to sexual assault when homeless and also have children in tow that are especially vulnerable. I don’t think this is a dig on homeless men, just a factoid.

This was posted in here last year, and something looked fishy about the image. I looked up the article. It's from Vancouver.

I can't find a print version of this article, but I found one online by looking up: "affordable housing, and people on welfare can't afford to pay rent" Here is the link:

Now, even these two versions are slightly different. Slightly different publication dates, but the one that follows through with the "Sixty-one percent" and has the same quote marks doesn't even mention women in the article.

The other article, which the one pictured here seems to be quote, since it put their words in quote, does say that '23% of homeless are women' (not 1/4), but it is listing marginalized groups and puts aboriginals and veterans ahead of women, even though they are a lower percentage.

Now, there may be a print copy of this that somebody has and can share, because I know that online version get updated and changed, and are formatted differently, but it seems like somebody is trying to get the MRA community riled up about a doctored document.
