I never thought about male circumcision until I was researching it one day (I can't remember why). I remember reading about how there was a study done regarding circumcision and it was said that the circumcision was so traumatizing to the baby that it was deemed unethical to continue the study. I don't know how true that really is, but it really got to me. I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried a little bit. Not just because of my circumcision, but because of all the other babies who have had circumcision and could have been traumatized by this unnecessary procidure.

It serves no medical purpose, yet it's performed on so many babies and the doctors won't tell the mother that it's not necessary. It's so common in our society that nobody thinks anything of it. Even if I wasn't circumcised, I would probably still want to get circumcised as an adult. I would have the choice to do that though. Babies don't have that same choice.

At least when you're an adult the doctor can use an anesthetic on you and you can do your own research on the subject and decide for yourself if it's something you want. Even though I personally have no problem with being circumcised, what bothers me is that this decision was made by my parents and I obviously never got a say in it because I was a baby. I don't want kids, but if I ever did have them, I wouldn't get them circumcised. I would let them decide for themselves when they get older. It's the right thing to do in my opinion. I understand if some of you disagree with me. I’m just stating my opinion on this topic.

I'm so tired of people arguing in favor of mutilating babies.

I used to wonder what the line around my penis was as a kid.When I learned why that scar is there, and what it meant. It pissed me off. When I look at my baby pictures, I just think about how they could do that to me when I was defenseless.

And people are okay with it. Because they can't look beyond their own idiocy. No one cares if you're fine with your dick, that isn't a justification to keep mutilating babies. Stop being stupid. I'm fine with my dick, it is what it is. But that doesn't mean I'm going to justify continuing this unnecessary mutilation of infant children.

I've heard that in Saudi Arabia and perhaps other Muslim countries they practice such severe male "circumcision" that men are often just barely capable of ejaculating, but it's essentially joyless. Can anyone confirm?

IDK, I'm glad I've been circumcised and appreciate the fact that my parents got it done when I was so young, as to not remember any pain or recovery from it.

I see this post in men’s rights often. Sort of seems like trying to force a movement. I am circumcised and glad to be so. The data behind failed circumcisions leading to health risks is so nominal it’s barely a statistic.

Just looking to understand the anti-circumcision idea here, can someone lay it on me like I’m 5?

They use to cut it bc if it wasn't cleaned it would get a nasty infection. That's why it was cut. It's not necessary now but people still do it, the most common excuse I've heard is bc they don't want the child to feel different from the dad.
