Am I not allowed to highlight a point because someone else gets abuse from their sexuality?

Basically, yes.

The concept of "privilege" is that certain groups --- men, women, white people, heterosexuals, cisgender people to name a few --- get certain social advantages in society. A sound concept, really; who could argue that heterosexuality isn't treated better than bi- or homosexuality, and probably also asexuality? Who could argue that men are, in some situations, treated better than women ... and vice-versa?

The problem is, I have never seen it seriously used in a way other than to say "shut the fuck up because I'm right". If you disagree with something that has been said, you're told to check your privilege. Articles and blog posts are written in detail about how much your privilege blinds you to the truth about how evil you are. "Allies" are made to feel like shit, lower themselves, and exclude themselves from the conversation on the basis of their skin, gender, sex, and orientation ... which sounds an awful lot like what we as a society are supposed to be fighting against.

Irony punctuation is any proposed form of notation used to denote irony or sarcasm in text. Written English lacks a standard way to mark irony, and several forms of punctuation have been proposed. Among the oldest and most frequently attested are the percontation point proposed by English printer Henry Denham in the 1580s, and the irony mark, used by Marcellin Jobard and French poet Alcanter de Brahm during the 19th century. Both marks take the form of a reversed question mark, "⸮".

Irony punctuation is primarily used to indicate that a sentence should be understood at a second level. A bracketed exclamation point or question mark as well as scare quotes are also sometimes used to express irony or sarcasm.
