You must be blind if you think that the reproductive rights of the father were violated. She actually honered them by terminating his obligation at the stage of pregancy. Just see it in the way that he had the choice of aborting the unwanted pregnancy from his life. She respected his choice of not becoming a father and he is not financially liable for whatever she decides to do with the pregnancy. This is the perfect example of how "legal parental surrender" would play out if men were given that option.

That pretty much says it all there.

Men's reproductive rights are about financial support. She absolved him of that so his rights were never in question.

I respect that she didn't pursue him for money but for people to say there was nothing wrong with this is just bizarre.

He didn't choose to reproduce. He never consented to allow her to use his sperm in that manner. The only thing protecting him from 18 years of legal slavery are her good intentions.

A donor in general is a person who donates something voluntarily.

"sperm donor" is just one of those concepts, or expressions, that I wish we could just eradicate completely from our culture. Other than in extreme cases of infertility, there really should never be any situation where a child is purposefully created without a willing and involved father. Even sperm banks, should really just be as a means of storing personal DNA(in case of a loss of productive capability), not a place where sperm is collected for the purpose of artificial insemination for whoever wants to pay for it. Fathers shouldn't be considered expandable or "optional" and a man's worth goes far beyond just his seed(just like a woman's worth goes beyond just her womb). Both a man's sovereignty over his seed(or genetic legacy/responsibility) and his role as a man/father should be respected, if not manditory.

I must be missing something in here, as she stated "My partner wanted nothing to do with the kid" he thus renounced to his parental rights. Also, it was in a crysis existence, i don't see why she should be blamed for her honesty. And she is not seeking after child support, the situation does not seems problematic to me.

Yes maybe in a few years she'll realise she wants this child support. Maybe he'll also realises he wants to be involve in his kid life. The story is far from complete here and only a rationnal assessement of the situation, taking care of the particularities and whatis best for the kid should be looked at.

Gentlemen. That woman has actually helped Men's Rights. She has proven that women are ultimately in control of having children. She has set the example of how an unwed woman should take responsiblity for everything related to having a child. She did not seek pity and did not expect someone to "man up" over a choice she made. She is taking full responsibility for having a child out of wedlock from an uncomitted partenr. She even demonstrated how "Legal Parental Surrender" would work.

The father in that case had his decision honored. He made the mistake of engaging in risky sex out of wedlock that resulted in pregnancy. However, he was given the option to walk out and not be forced into anything.

Regardless of what she may do five, ten years from now.. her story should be spoken loudly so that women could see how they should handle an out of wedlock pregnancy from an uncommited partner.

Soon she'll realize that she's missing out on a lot of money. Maybe her car is a few years old and she wants a new one, or maybe she wants to go on another cruise in the Caribbean with her "partner". She'll start hating her "donor" more and more, and because he cheated on her she will convince herself that she deserves that money. This will slowly build up over a few years. She'll find out where her "donor" lives, maybe even hire a private investigator to do so, and will sue him for back child support. It's only a matter of time.

Whilst this is obviously a despicable and heinously immoral way to behave, let's not fall into the trap of using this as a club to beat women. We make life harder for ourselves when we take things like this as personal grievances, rather than glaring social issues.
